To complete Tools of the Trade in Skull and Bones, craft a Pickaxe I, Saw I, and Sickle I at the Carpenter, gather 8 Acacia, then deliver it to the Shipwright in Sainte-Anne. If Acacia gathering spots are scarce, Ubisoft documented a nearby gatherer ship that drops Acacia and can be hunted with a spear.
How to complete Tools of the Trade
- Speak to the Shipwright. Follow the contract marker in Sainte-Anne and begin the first-ship materials objective.
- Craft the Captain Tools. At the Carpenter, make a Pickaxe I, Saw I, and Sickle I. The walkthrough lists all three as required for the contract. If you need the Pickaxe I recipe, Game8 lists Broken Plank x2, Torn Sail x1, and 20 Silver; see its Pickaxe guide.
- Collect 8 Acacia. Use the map to find Acacia gathering areas, or use the alternate ship route described below.
- Return to the Shipwright. Deliver the Acacia to finish the contract. Game8 lists “A Seaworthy Ship” as the next main contract.
Where to get Acacia near Sainte-Anne
Acacia gathering nodes are the direct route: check the map for marked gathering areas and use your gathering tools there. If nodes are scarce, hunt the low-level gatherer ship near Sainte-Anne. Ubisoft’s Year 1 Season 1.3 patch notes say the ship drops Acacia and can be hunted with a hunting spear to fulfill the contract requirement. Ubisoft’s note specifically addressed the lack of Acacia spawn points around Sainte-Anne.

Tools of the Trade rewards
Game8’s walkthrough reports rewards of 100 Infamy, 240 Silver, and a Repair Kit. These are guide-reported values; Ubisoft’s patch note documents the Acacia workaround, not a reward table, and later changes to the contract rewards are not established here. The walkthrough was last updated in February 2024, so use the current in-game objectives and map markers if they differ.
