Hollow Knight: Silksong salió el 4 de septiembre de 2025 y, según medios que siguieron los canales de piratería, apareció allí rápidamente. La sorpresa fue otra: algunos usuarios de r/Piracy animaron a comprarlo o dijeron que ya lo habían hecho. Eso documenta opiniones dentro de un hilo, no un cambio de postura de los piratas en general ni cuántos acabaron pagando.
Qué ocurrió cuando salió Silksong
Team Cherry anunció el 4 de septiembre de 2025 que Hollow Knight: Silksong ya estaba disponible en todas las plataformas y en Xbox Game Pass desde el primer día (anuncio de Team Cherry). La ficha de Steam también registra esa fecha y señala a Team Cherry como desarrollador y editor.
Ese mismo día, PC Gamer y GamesRadar+ informaron que el juego había aparecido rápidamente en canales de piratería. La cobertura no permite establecer de forma independiente un intervalo exacto hasta el primer crack; por eso, los tiempos muy precisos que circulan no deben tratarse como confirmados.
En el hilo de r/Piracy que cubrieron esos medios, algunos participantes decían que comprarían el juego o que ya lo habían comprado; otros defendían descargarlo sin pagar. Es una discusión con opiniones distintas, no un consenso de todo el subreddit ni una muestra representativa de jugadores.

Por qué algunos usuarios recomendaban comprarlo
Los comentarios citados por PC Gamer apuntaban a tres motivos: apoyar a un estudio pequeño, considerar razonable el precio y valorar que la versión de PC se distribuyera sin DRM. Son explicaciones expresadas por comentaristas, no causas demostradas de las ventas ni declaraciones de Team Cherry.

Un usuario citado por PC Gamer escribió: “This is a time where if we can afford to support them, we should.” En el mismo comentario se refería a Team Cherry como un equipo de tres o cuatro personas. Es el parecer de un participante de Reddit, no una descripción oficial del tamaño del equipo ni un mensaje del estudio.

Precio y DRM en PC
GamesRadar+ citó un precio de 20 dólares en Estados Unidos el día del lanzamiento, el 4 de septiembre de 2025. Es un dato histórico y regional: no equivale a un precio universal ni necesariamente al vigente hoy. Steam mostraba 19,99 dólares al consultar la ficha; el precio puede variar según región y fecha. PC Gamer también recogió comentarios que destacaban la distribución de PC sin DRM. GamesRadar+ mencionó GOG como otra opción de PC sin DRM.
Para elegir una vía legítima, Team Cherry anunció disponibilidad en todas las plataformas y acceso desde el primer día en Game Pass; Steam ofrece la compra digital y la banda sonora como contenido digital, y la cobertura contemporánea mencionó GOG para PC sin DRM. Lo que la historia no demuestra
GamesRadar+ describió los comentarios de Reddit como evidencia anecdótica. Las fuentes citadas no ofrecen una encuesta representativa ni una cifra de personas que primero piratearan Silksong y después lo compraran. Tampoco permiten medir cuánto influyeron el precio, el DRM o el deseo de apoyar al estudio en las ventas.
PC Gamer destacó lo inusual del hilo con una frase reproducida de una publicación de Bluesky: “Silksong’s release is the first time I’ve seen comments on the Piracy subreddit push for people to buy it instead.” La frase describe la impresión de quien publicó ese mensaje; no es una estadística sobre r/Piracy ni sobre la piratería de videojuegos.
