Eight cards are documented through the Space-Time Smackdown set, but that historical list is not complete for the game as of October 8, 2026: later sources identify Igglybuff and sleep-focused deck strategies. Here are the documented cards, their reported routes, and how to check what is currently available.
What counts as a sleep card?
This guide uses an effect-based definition: a card qualifies if its attack or Ability can make an opponent’s Pokémon Asleep. Sleep-themed artwork or a Pokémon commonly associated with sleep does not qualify on its own. Pocket is a digital card-collecting game, and its rules differ from those of the physical Pokémon TCG, as Pokémon Support explains in its Gameplay FAQ.
Documented sleep cards through Space-Time Smackdown
The following eight-card list is historical, scoped through Space-Time Smackdown. The card names, numbers, effects and reported routes come from Arcader/Polygon’s list; ONE Esports corroborates the early Genetic Apex cards and Jigglypuff promo. These routes should not be read as confirmation that a pack or event is still available in October 2026.
| Card | How it inflicts Asleep | Documented route |
|---|---|---|
| Vileplume (A1 13) | Soothing Scent attack | Genetic Apex Charizard pack |
| Frosmoth (A1 93) | Powder Snow attack | Any Genetic Apex pack |
| Hypno (A1 125) | Sleep Pendulum Ability; conditional on a coin flip | Genetic Apex Pikachu pack |
| Wigglytuff ex (A1 195) | Sleep Song attack | Genetic Apex Pikachu pack |
| Shiinotic (A1a 8) | Flickering Spores attack | Mythical Island pack |
| Flabébé (A1a 36) | Hypnotic Gaze attack | Mythical Island pack |
| Darkrai (A2 109) | Dark Void attack | Space-Time Smackdown Dialga pack |
| Jigglypuff (P-A 22) | Sing attack | Venusaur Drop Event promo; a historical event route, not a promise of current availability |
Arcader/Polygon’s list is explicitly limited to Space-Time Smackdown. Later references identify Igglybuff in the Secluded Springs set and describe a sleep-lock deck using Igglybuff, Milotic ex and Darkrai, so the eight entries above should not be treated as a complete later roster. The available sources do not establish every sleep-inflicting card or every current acquisition route as of October 8, 2026. See the Igglybuff Secluded Springs card entry and the Milotic ex and Darkrai deck guide for those later references.

How to find and get a specific sleep card
- Find the exact card. Search your in-game collection or a searchable card list by Pokémon name, then inspect the card text to confirm it actually inflicts Asleep. Community databases are useful discovery tools, not official rules authorities; Pokémon GO Hub provides a searchable Pocket card list.
- Check the pack’s card pool and rates. Use the game’s pack-selection screen and offering rates for the exact card and expansion before opening packs. Pokémon’s collecting and Wonder Pick guide notes that packs within an expansion can have different card pools, so the wrong pack may not contain your target.
- Look for a suitable Wonder Pick. Wonder Pick can provide another route to cards from packs opened by other players, when a relevant selection appears. Availability and any cost are shown in-game and may vary.
- Check whether an event or promo route is active. The Jigglypuff entry above came from a Venusaur Drop Event. A past event listing does not establish that the promo can still be obtained; check current in-game events and shops. Pokémon GO Hub’s promo-card guide is another discovery reference, but confirm availability in the app.
What to compare before building around sleep
- Attack or Ability: Hypno’s Sleep Pendulum is an Ability, while the listed attacks require the Pokémon to act and meet their attack conditions.
- Reliability: Hypno’s listed sleep effect depends on a coin flip; the other effects in the table are described as attacks that inflict Asleep.
- Setup and energy: Check the current card text and your deck’s energy plan before choosing a sleep card. The historical list does not provide comparable energy costs or a verified current-text audit, so it cannot support a reliable cost ranking.
- Availability: A documented pack or event is not necessarily a current route. Verify the specific card in the app before spending pack resources or planning around a promo.
- Deck evidence: A July 2026 guide presents an Igglybuff/Milotic ex/Darkrai sleep-lock strategy. That is one guide’s deck analysis, not proof that the combination is universally strong or that it represents every sleep card.
Do you need to pay to collect sleep cards?
No paid purchase is established as a requirement for the listed cards. Pokémon describes Pocket as free to start with optional in-app purchases in its Gameplay FAQ. The official Pokémon TCG Pocket website says players can open two booster packs every day at no cost; its page gives no publication year and cautions that products, content and features can change, so verify the current mechanic in-game. Pokémon’s Purchase and Premium Pass FAQ explains the paid pass and purchases, but does not establish that the pass is required for the core sleep-card list.
Pocket cards are digital. Physical Pokémon TCG booster packs are not established as a way to acquire cards in the Pocket app.
