The remake also adds 79 hidden coins: find all of them to open a hidden room at the Shrine of Worship and obtain the Sword of Dormin. Most shrines and ordinary health and stamina collectibles can be worked into exploration; a complete coin hunt is a separate, sometimes progression-gated task.
Sony describes the PS4 edition as rebuilt by Bluepoint Games and Japan Studio. Its official product page notes that some PS4 features may be absent when the game is played on PS5, so this guide focuses on the PS4 version.
What each collectible does
| Find | Effect or purpose | When to pursue it |
|---|---|---|
| Shrine | Save point and landmark | Use them as you explore; most can be visited early. |
| Fruit | Raises maximum health | Collect opportunistically or use a map during a later sweep. |
| White-tailed lizard tail | Raises maximum stamina, or charge capacity | Collect nearby lizards as you travel; a detection aid can help later. |
| Hidden coin | One of 79 PS4-remake collectibles required to unlock a hidden room and the Sword of Dormin | Best treated as a completionist hunt; some are tied to battles or traversal unlocks. |
Shrines, fruit, and lizard upgrades are not unique to the PS4 remake; the 79-coin hunt is identified by the guides as a PS4 addition.
Where shrines fit into a run
Shrines are scattered across the Forbidden Land. They are useful both as save points and as recognizable landmarks when planning a route. A walkthrough reports that approaching a shrine makes it visible on the map.

Most shrines are available early, but do not assume every marked location is reachable from the start. The shrine guide places the final shrine on a late-game route after Colossus 15, so revisit it when story progression opens the way rather than searching for an inaccessible path during an early run.
How to find fruit and increase health
Fruit hangs from trees around the world, including trees tucked into dead ends, cliffs, and overlooks. Shoot the fruit with the bow to knock it down, then collect it. Each fruit pickup increases Wander’s maximum health.
For a location-by-location hunt, the GameFAQs FAQ lists fruit using map-grid coordinates. Those coordinates are a community reference, not an official Sony map, and the FAQ carries an older publication history despite being labeled for PS4. Use the grid as a guide rather than treating it as first-party verification.
How to find lizards and increase stamina
Look for white-tailed lizards and collect their useful tails to increase maximum stamina, which expands Wander’s charge capacity. Lizards are often found around save shrines, but they are not confined to shrine grounds; the location FAQ also lists examples elsewhere in the world.

You can hunt as you explore, or leave a more systematic sweep until after earning the lizard-detection aid from Time Attack. That item makes the search easier but is not required. Time Attack also offers a fruit tree map, which can make a later fruit sweep more practical.

The PS4 remake adds 79 hidden coins, also referred to in guides as relics or steps to enlightenment. The first pickup makes a counter appear on the map. A coin guide also reports an audio cue when Wander approaches one. Finding all 79 opens a hidden area in the Shrine of Worship containing the Sword of Dormin.

This is a distinct goal from increasing health or stamina: coins do not replace fruit or lizard tails. Plan for backtracking. Some coins are associated with particular battles, and the guide says certain ones require special traversal equipment, so you may need to revisit fights or wait until the relevant ability or route is available.
The total and reward are documented by the Neoseeker coin guide; a 2018 PlayStation LifeStyle report also describes the 79-coin discovery, hidden door, and Sword of Dormin. Both are secondary sources rather than official location documentation.
Quick Recap
A practical collecting plan
- Save and orient: use shrines as stopping points and landmarks, remembering that one late-route shrine is progression-gated.
- Take easy upgrades while traveling: shoot visible fruit from trees and collect nearby white-tailed lizard tails rather than making every trip a dedicated hunt.
- Use post-completion aids for cleanup: Time Attack rewards include a fruit tree map and lizard-detection aid, useful if you want to finish those collections systematically.
- Separate the coin sweep: check the map counter after your first coin, follow the reported audio cue, and expect to return to battle areas or wait for traversal access to find every one.
