Singularity 6 raised $30 million in a Series B round reported on July 1, 2021, to scale the studio and prepare its debut game, Palia. The round was led by FunPlus Ventures, with five other named participants. The original “upcoming” framing is now dated: EG7 announced in 2024 that its subsidiary Daybreak had agreed to acquire Singularity 6, and Daybreak was still announcing new Palia content in 2026.
What the $30 million round covered
TechCrunch reported that Singularity 6 raised $30 million in Series B funding to scale the studio and prepare Palia, its debut game. The amount, purpose and investor list below reflect TechCrunch’s July 1, 2021 report, which attributed the funding disclosure to the company.
- Lead investor: FunPlus Ventures.
- Additional participants: Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), LVP, Transcend, Anthos Capital and Mitch Lasky.
TechCrunch also reported that the Series B brought Singularity 6’s disclosed funding total to $49 million. That figure combined the $30 million Series B with a previously reported $16.5 million Series A, led by Andreessen Horowitz in 2019. It is the total reported at that time, not a verified lifetime funding total after subsequent events. TechCrunch’s 2021 funding report
What Palia was meant to be
Singularity 6 described Palia as a “community simulation MMO set in a high fantasy world.” Its studio announcement framed the game around building a life and making friends in an online world. The studio summarized its broader ambition this way: “Our mission is to forge alternate worlds that deepen players’ lives.” Singularity 6’s announcement

TechCrunch contrasted that community-centered pitch with the combat-focused expectations often associated with MMOs, and compared some of its social mechanics to Animal Crossing. Those are descriptions of the game’s original positioning, not a comprehensive assessment of its gameplay. TechCrunch’s 2021 coverage
