This guide covers the mission index available as of October 8, 2026: 119 numbered base-game side missions, 81 numbered missions in the Mega Dimension DLC, and three EX missions. Use the linked indexes to look up each mission’s exact name, unlock condition, location, objective, and reward; the available references do not provide a complete mission-by-mission reward table in this article.

How many side missions are in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?

The current index includes 200 numbered side missions across the base game and Mega Dimension DLC, plus EX1, EX2, and EX3. Bulbapedia separates the 119 numbered base-game missions from the 81 DLC missions numbered 120–200; Serebii’s index lists the numbering through 200 and all three EX missions. See the Bulbapedia mission overview and Serebii side mission index.

For a mission-by-mission lookup, Serebii provides a broad index of mission names and descriptions. Bulbapedia’s base-game table includes objectives, rewards, locations, and unlock requirements. Game8 Japan maintains a guide with reward and location coverage and a separate DLC list; its advertised count of 121 entries applies to that page’s base listing, not the total across the game and DLC.

  • Base game: numbered missions 1–119, plus EX1 and EX2.
  • Mega Dimension DLC: numbered missions 120–200, plus EX3.
  • Mystery Gift extras: additional Diancie and Mewtwo missions unlocked through the relevant Mystery Gift distributions.

  • Work with the mysterious baker, Ansha, to make donuts that awaken the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa’s power and grant you and your Pokémon a variety of useful effects
  • Join Team MZ and the Mega Evolution Successor, Korrina, to investigate Hyperspace Lumiose, the otherworldly home to rare and hyper-strong Pokémon
  • Discover new Mega Evolutions such as Mega Raichu X, Mega Raichu Y, Mega Chimecho and Mega Baxcalibur

Where to find mission names, unlocks, and rewards

Check the individual mission entry rather than relying on a short index description: rewards and unlock conditions are mission-specific, and quantities should not be inferred from the task summary.

  1. For a numbered or EX mission’s name and brief description, search the Serebii index.
  2. For base-game objectives, rewards, requester or location, and unlock requirements, use the relevant row in Bulbapedia’s base-game table.
  3. For reward and location details, including DLC coverage, consult Game8 Japan’s guide and its separately linked DLC list.

Side missions span battles, Pokémon requests and trades, item retrieval, exploration, timed movement challenges, and other errands. For example, the index includes “A Use for an Evolution Stone,” involving a Pikachu-for-Heracross trade, as well as “A Shiny Mareep” and “Finding a Place for Heliolisk.” These examples show the range of activities; use the mission-specific entries for exact prerequisites and rewards.

  • Your journey will take you to all manner of sights in the streets arrayed around Prism Tower, including shops, restaurants, and places called wild zones—where Pokémon roam free.
  • As you catch, train, and battle Pokémon, there will be plenty of people to meet too—like AZ, the enigmatic owner of Hotel Z.

Which missions are required, and what unlocks the DLC?

Most side missions are optional. The first three are required to finish Main Mission 5, “The City in the Shadow of Prism Tower.” Mission 120 is the prerequisite to initiate Mega Dimension DLC content. These progression facts are listed in the Bulbapedia mission overview.

How to unlock the Diancie and Mewtwo extra missions

Nintendo says Mystery Gift distributions of a Diancite Stone unlock an extra side mission to encounter Diancie. Mystery Gift distributions of Mewtwonite X and Mewtwonite Y make Mewtwo’s extra side mission available. Nintendo also specifies that the main story must be completed before these extra side missions can be played, and that the console must be connected to the internet to use Mystery Gift. Availability may depend on whether the distributions can still be claimed. Details are on Nintendo Australia’s announcement, dated January 15, 2026.
