When did the Space Nation Online alpha start?
The announcement date was August 29, 2023. In its alpha guide published the following day, Space Nation specified the playable test period as August 30 at 04:00 UTC to September 8 at 08:00 UTC—a little over nine days, rather than a test that began on the announcement date. The studio’s later Diving Deep into Space Nation: The Alpha Test Unveiled describes it as a one-week test.
Who could play the alpha?
Participation was exclusive to Alpha Gate holders, according to the official guide. A later studio AMA recap also characterizes the test as being for Alpha Gate holders and select early supporters. These descriptions concern the 2023 alpha; they do not establish current access requirements.
What did the test include?
The alpha was an early preview of Space Nation Online’s multiplayer space-adventure systems, rather than a complete version of the game. The studio’s recap described the following activities:

- Ship piloting and PvE missions: Players could fly ships and take on a main series of player-versus-environment missions.
- Side missions: The recap reported more than 15 side missions. That is the studio’s figure, not an independently verified count.
- Shared-world interaction: Players could observe others and communicate in lobbies while occupying a large, seamless map with real-time interaction.
Together, these features offered a look at mission play alongside other players in a persistent-feeling shared space. They should be read as the studio’s description of the alpha’s scope, not as an independent assessment of how the test performed.
How the alpha fits into Space Nation’s development
The alpha was an early milestone, not the project’s final launch. Later studio announcements document additional test and release phases:

The dates and access details in this table describe historical announcements, not current availability. The studio’s roadmap page, dated March 11, 2025, lists later games and entertainment projects; a roadmap listing alone does not confirm that an item shipped.
What “Web3 MMO” means in this project
Space Nation presents Online as a Web3 MMORPG within a larger space-opera entertainment franchise. In the company’s framing, blockchain-linked digital assets and game-economy features are part of that broader ecosystem, with Immutable zkEVM named as intended blockchain infrastructure. Those features describe the project’s ecosystem; they are distinct from the alpha’s core gameplay preview of flying, missions and interacting with other players.

Access models also changed across development phases: the 2023 alpha guide specified Alpha Gate holders, while the later Closed Beta I overview cited Space Nation NFT ownership or an activation code. Neither historical rule should be treated as proof that buying an NFT is required to access the game now.

The milestones cited here establish that the game progressed beyond its 2023 alpha to a 2024 closed beta and soft launch. They do not establish whether the game is currently available or which roadmap items have since been released. Check Space Nation’s current official channels for present service status rather than relying on those dated test announcements.
