Sniper Elite: Resistance launched on January 30, 2025, after its reveal at Gamescom 2024. The standalone story runs parallel to Sniper Elite 5, follows SOE agent Harry Hawker in occupied France, and is available on PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
When did Sniper Elite: Resistance come out?
Rebellion revealed Sniper Elite: Resistance at Gamescom 2024 with a planned 2025 release. It launched on January 30, 2025. Rebellion’s launch-day article announced the release and described the game’s campaign and multiplayer modes.
What is the story about?
The game is a standalone story set in occupied France, running parallel to Sniper Elite 5. Players take the role of Harry Hawker, an SOE agent working with the French Resistance to stop a new Nazi weapon. The official PlayStation description outlines the premise.
How does the gameplay work?
Resistance is a tactical third-person shooter built around sniping, stealth and choosing how to approach objectives. Rebellion highlights different infiltration and extraction points, customizable weapons at campaign workbenches, and the returning X-ray kill cam. Campaign and co-op
The campaign has eight missions and can be played solo or online with a friend. Co-op applies to the full campaign, rather than being a separate set of missions. Rebellion’s launch article describes the mission count and available modes.
Additional modes
- Propaganda Missions: Find posters hidden in campaign levels to unlock these missions.
- Axis Invasion: An opposing player can enter another player’s campaign as an Axis sniper.
- Competitive multiplayer: Supports up to 16 players, according to Rebellion’s launch-day description.
- Survival: Supports up to four players.

What platforms is Sniper Elite: Resistance on?
Rebellion lists the game for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows PC. PC storefronts include Steam and the Epic Games Store. Rebellion’s platform support page names the supported platforms and stores. Platform editions and downloadable extras vary by storefront; check the relevant store for current edition contents and availability.

A physical PS5 version was announced for Asian markets, alongside a physical PS4 version, with a January 30, 2025 release date. Game Source Entertainment’s October 26, 2024 announcement covers that regional release.
