Announced in September 2024 and released on November 21, 2024, the lineup included two console bundles, a PlayStation Portal, and standalone DualSense controllers. The PS5 Pro bundle was the most restricted release: Sony announced 12,300 numbered units.
What was in the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection?
Sony framed the collection as a visual tribute rather than a performance upgrade. The design drew on the original PlayStation, which launched on December 3, 1994. Hideaki Nishino, then CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Platform Business Group, said the collection “utilizes the original PlayStation color design and integrates it into the latest line of PS5 hardware products.”
The announced lineup covered consoles and standalone accessories:
- PlayStation 5 Pro Console – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle
- PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle
- PlayStation Portal Remote Player – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition
- DualSense Edge Wireless Controller – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition
- DualSense Wireless Controller – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition
Sony’s September 19, 2024 announcement documents the lineup and its original launch details.

How did the two console bundles differ?
The Pro bundle had more storage and a wider set of matching accessories. Both console bundles included collector extras, and neither included the separately sold Disc Drive.
| Bundle | Storage | Included hardware | Disc Drive | Collector extras |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle | 2TB SSD | Limited-edition DualSense controller, DualSense Edge controller, DualSense Charging Station, console cover for a Disc Drive, and vertical stand. Sony specified Wi-Fi 7 in territories that support the standard. | Not included; sold separately. | Original-PlayStation-controller-style cable connector housing, four PlayStation Shapes cable ties, sticker, one of 30 possible limited-edition posters, and a paperclip. |
| PS5 Digital Edition 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle | 1TB SSD | Matching DualSense controller, console cover for a Disc Drive, and vertical stand. | Not included; sold separately. | Original-PlayStation-controller-style cable connector housing, four PlayStation Shapes cable ties, sticker, one of 30 possible limited-edition posters, and a paperclip. |
The 1TB figure is supported by Sony’s official collection materials; the announcement page itself appears to contain a typographical error, displaying “1TD SSD.”

What made the PS5 Pro bundle limited?
Sony announced 12,300 PS5 Pro bundles, with an individual limited-edition number etched onto each unit. The company said the number represents the month and date of the first PlayStation console launch. It is a stated quantity for the PS5 Pro bundle, not a total count for every product in the collection.
When did the collection go on sale?
Sony announced a November 21, 2024 release date and said preorders would begin September 26, 2024. For that original preorder period, it listed direct.playstation.com availability in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Austria. Sony also described different preorder channels for particular products, and availability varied by region.

Sony did name a separate physical product: the DualSense Wireless Controller – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition. That exact product name is a useful way to distinguish it from the controller included in either console bundle. A listing using the name is not, by itself, proof of current stock or an official seller; check the seller, condition, and listing details before buying.
