Sony’s 2025 UK Black Friday promotion took £20 off both white and Midnight Black PlayStation Portal models. In the US, GamesRadar reported an Amazon price of $179, down from $199.99. Those are historical offers, not verified prices for Black Friday 2026 or today; check a retailer’s live listing for current price, stock and sale dates.
What the Black Friday discounts were
| Market and source | Reported offer | What it covered |
|---|---|---|
| UK — Sony’s 2025 Black Friday page | £20 off | White and Midnight Black PlayStation Portal models |
| US — GamesRadar’s 2025 deal coverage | $179, compared with a $199.99 list price | An Amazon offer reported during the 2025 Black Friday period |
The promotions were market-specific, not a single worldwide price cut. Sony noted that offer dates and terms vary by retailer, so the listed figures do not establish what a buyer would have paid in every store or region. The UK promotion is evidence of the advertised saving, while the US figure is GamesRadar’s report of an Amazon deal.

The figures above describe 2025 promotions. They do not confirm a current discount, a 2026 Black Friday offer, or present-day stock in either market. Compare a retailer’s current price with the list price in the same country and currency, and verify the sale end date and color availability on that retailer’s page. What the PlayStation Portal does—and what it requires
Remote play from a PS5
The Portal is a handheld remote player that streams compatible games installed on a PS5 over Wi-Fi. This mode requires a PS5 and a PlayStation account; it is not a standalone console that runs those PS5 games independently. Sony lists broadband Wi-Fi of at least 5 Mbps as the minimum and recommends 15 Mbps or more for a better experience. Actual connection quality depends on the network environment. See Sony’s PlayStation Portal product information.

- Play Your Game Collection - PlayStation Portal Remote Player can play compatible games you have installed on your PS5 console, including your favorite games for PS5 and PS4.**
- Store and Protect – Sturdy outer shell, molded interior and dual zipper pulls provides protection for the PlayStation Portal remote player

Cloud streaming from selected games
Sony also supports cloud streaming for eligible games from the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Classics Catalog. This is distinct from streaming games installed on your own PS5: cloud streaming requires PlayStation Plus Premium, and the eligible catalog varies by region, country and plan. Premium is not a requirement for ordinary PS5 remote play.

How to judge whether a deal suits you
- Check the price in your market. A UK saving in pounds and a US Amazon price in dollars are separate offers; compare each with local pricing rather than treating them as one promotion.
- Make sure remote play fits your setup. You need a PS5 with the games you want to play installed and a sufficiently reliable Wi-Fi connection.
- Separate the subscription question from remote play. Premium matters if you plan to use cloud streaming for eligible catalog games; it is not needed just to remote-play from your PS5.
- Verify current details before buying. Retailer price, stock, available color and sale dates can change, and the 2025 coverage does not establish any of those details now.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
