What to try first when the game crashes

Verify the game files
Use Steam or Epic Games Store’s built-in file-integrity check for the game. Nixxes says verification may resolve crashes that begin after an update. Follow the store-specific instructions linked from Nixxes’ crash troubleshooting page.

Update the graphics driver
Install the latest driver for your graphics hardware from its manufacturer: NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel. Avoid third-party driver updater tools. If a standard update does not fix the crash, Nixxes specifically recommends a clean driver installation: remove the existing GPU drivers, then install the latest version.

Check for a game update
Restart the Steam or Epic client and check its Downloads section for pending updates. Nixxes’ game-update guidance describes how to check for updates in the relevant launcher.

These are troubleshooting steps, not a guarantee of a fix. A crash by itself does not identify whether the cause is damaged game files, a driver, system limits, a particular game bug, or another software or hardware issue.

There is a discrepancy worth noting if you are comparing listings: Steam gives Intel Core i3-4160 as the minimum CPU, while the newer Nixxes support page gives Intel Core i3-4610. The other listed minimums—Windows 10 64-bit version 1909, 8 GB RAM, GTX 950 or RX 470, DirectX 12, and 75 GB storage—match. Steam store listing
For a useful comparison, check your CPU, GPU and available VRAM, RAM, Windows version, DirectX capability, free storage, and whether the game is on an SSD. Meeting a listed target does not rule out a driver or game-specific problem.

Test lower graphics settings if crashes appear under load
If the crash occurs during demanding scenes or seems tied to graphics load, temporarily reduce the resolution and graphics preset, lower texture quality, and turn off ray tracing. Nixxes notes that ray tracing has a large impact on CPU and GPU performance; changing these settings can help determine whether load is a factor, but is not a guaranteed repair. The game’s graphics options guidance covers resolution, presets, textures, and ray-tracing controls.
Was a Windows 11 crash bug already fixed?
Yes, an older patch addressed a specific Windows 11 crash: Nixxes’ version 2.209.0.0 notes say it “Fixed a buffer overflow that could cause crashes for some players on Windows 11.” That establishes that a Windows 11 crash of this kind existed and was patched; it does not show that a new crash has the same cause. Other release notes also document narrower fixes: version 2.1012.0.0 fixed a crash that could occur when changing resolution and dynamic resolution scaling together, and version 1.1121.0.0 fixed crashes in boss fights and the final scene. Version 3.617.1.0 lists stability improvements. Send Nixxes the files needed to investigate an unresolved crash
Nixxes is the PC-support destination; Insomniac announced the support move on March 19, 2026. Insomniac’s support announcement Before opening a ticket, collect the following items:
- Game log:
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales.log. - Crash dump: the
.mdmpfile created for the crash. - DxDiag report: open Windows Search, type
dxdiag, launch the tool, then select Save All Information to createDxDiag.txt. - Affected save: include the save file from the point where the crash occurs, if the issue is tied to a particular save or in-game event.
On English-language Windows installations, Nixxes gives this Documents folder path for the game log and save files: %userprofile%documentsMarvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Attach the evidence to a ticket through Nixxes PC support. Include when the crash happens—such as at launch, after an update, after changing a setting, or during a particular encounter—and your installed game version.
