Shift Up’s comparison put The Last of Us at 37,000 peak concurrent Steam users. That is a comparison of simultaneous players on Steam—not total players, sales, or overall popularity.
What the Steam comparison measures
Peak concurrent players counts how many people were playing a game on Steam at the same time at its busiest point. It does not count everyone who played over a day or since launch, and it is not a sales figure. Shift Up presented the comparison in its 2Q 2025 Business Performance Results, dated August 11, 2025; the specific Stellar Blade peak was reported by Video Games Chronicle, citing SteamDB.

Shift Up listed The Last of Us at 37,000 peak concurrent Steam users. VGC described both The Last of Us games as having barely passed 30,000 concurrent users. The 37,000 figure should therefore be read as Shift Up’s rounded comparison, not as a separately confirmed exact peak for each game.
How Stellar Blade compared with other PlayStation releases on Steam
Shift Up’s presentation also compared Stellar Blade with other PlayStation games on Steam. VGC reported the following peak concurrent counts for those titles:

Shift Up characterized Stellar Blade’s peak as two to five times higher than the cited PlayStation titles. The comparison is limited to Steam peaks; it does not establish which games sold more overall or attracted more players across all platforms.
Sales figures are a separate measure
Shift Up reported that Stellar Blade sold more than 1 million units on Steam within three days of release. The company also reported more than 3 million full-game sales across PS5 and PC combined, excluding DLC. These unit totals measure copies sold, while the 192,078 figure measures simultaneous Steam users at a peak; neither figure can be substituted for the other.

The launch-day count was not the final peak
GameSpot recorded 147,996 concurrent players in its June 12, 2025 launch-day article. That was a snapshot at the time of publication, not the later 192,078 peak reported by VGC. The two numbers describe different moments, rather than conflicting final counts.

The concurrent-player comparison concerns the PC versions on Steam. Stellar Blade’s PC version launched June 12, 2025. Shift Up’s combined sales total covers the game on PS5 and PC, while its Steam unit figure is PC storefront sales only. None of these Steam concurrency figures includes players on PS5.
