The Happy Gilmore 2 Tournament was a Netflix and Spotify promotional mini golf game played on a phone inside Spotify. Launched July 25, 2025, it let players tilt their phones to swing through three rounds, with film references, audio clips and a score tracker. The sources establish how the launch-era promotion worked, but do not confirm whether it is still playable in Spotify.
What was the Happy Gilmore 2 game on Spotify?
The Happy Gilmore 2 Tournament was a mobile, film-themed mini golf experience created by Netflix and Spotify with development partner MiK Studio. Spotify announced it on July 25, 2025, as a promotional campaign tied to the film’s release. Spotify described it as the first golf-inspired game built inside Spotify; that is the company’s characterization, not an independently verified history of every game on the platform. Spotify’s announcement and TechCrunch’s July 24, 2025 report describe the campaign.
This was an in-app promotional game, not a physical mini golf kit or a console game. The documented play method used Spotify on a mobile device; the sources do not say that players needed golf clubs, a putting mat or a separate gaming console.
How did the Spotify golf game work?
Three rounds, controlled by phone tilts
Spotify said players could find the experience in the Spotify app or open it from a mobile link. Players tilted their phones to take one swing per hole through three rounds, moving from short- to mid- and long-range shots. A score tracker recorded the results.
