Square Enix ended support for FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES Remastered Edition on iOS after an in-app-purchase change caused players to lose access to purchased content. The company said it could not completely fix the bug while implementing the changes, making a return of the iOS service unlikely. The shutdown applies to iOS; Square Enix said support would continue on other platforms.
Why did Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles shut down on iOS?
Square Enix said it began receiving reports on January 24, 2025, from customers who could no longer access content they had bought through the app. The problem included access to the paid version, which unlocks all dungeons, as well as other purchased additional content.
The company attributed the access failures to changes in the in-app-purchase model. After investigating, Square Enix said it was unable to completely fix the bug and implement the new changes, making it unlikely that service would resume. Its February 13, 2025 notice does not explain the underlying technical cause.
Square Enix announced the end of iOS support on February 13, 2025. The notice describes an end to iOS support and distribution but does not give a separate effective timestamp or establish a specific App Store removal date. Square Enix’s notice is the company’s account of the issue and decision.

Yes. The shutdown was specific to iOS. Square Enix said support for the remastered game would continue on platforms other than iOS, and its official game page lists Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Android. Availability of a particular edition or current store listing can vary; check the relevant platform’s storefront before buying.
Square Enix’s notices do not say that an iOS purchase or saved data transfers to Switch, PS4, or Android. Treat another platform as a separate way to play rather than assuming your iOS purchase unlocks it.
Could affected iOS players request a refund?
Square Enix said customers who made in-app purchases in January 2024 or later could request refunds through Apple Support for any of the app’s 15 additional-content items. The company directed customers with questions about the refund process to its support center by August 31, 2025. That support-contact deadline has passed; the notice does not establish that a refund request remains available now.
