The Stag Nest is a hidden area in Howling Cliffs, and the usual way to reach it is to unlock every other available Stag Station first. A community-documented alternate route uses a Vengefly and Nail-bouncing. The Nest is also where the Last Stag says he was born and raised.
Where is the Stag Nest?
The Stag Nest is a named sub-area in the northwest of Howling Cliffs in Hollow Knight. The community-maintained Hollow Knight Wiki’s Stag Nest guide describes it as reachable through the Stagways after you open the other available Stag Stations.
How do you get there?
Usual route: unlock the other Stag Stations
- Find and unlock every other available Stag Station.
- Use the Stagways to travel to the Stag Nest, which becomes accessible through this progression.
The access condition and route are documented by the community wiki; they are not instructions published on Team Cherry’s official site.
Alternate route: use a Vengefly
The wiki also documents a more difficult alternate approach from nearby Howling Cliffs: Nail-bounce on a Vengefly to reach the Nest without first opening all the other available Stag Stations. This is community guidance, and the source does not give a measured difficulty comparison with the usual route.

What is in the Stag Nest?
The community wiki describes the area as containing the remains of Stags and a freshly hatched egg. It interprets the egg as a hopeful sign that Stags may live on; that is an interpretation of the scene, not an explicit confirmation of what happens next.
When the Last Stag finds the Nest, he says: “I’ve found it! the Stag Nest, where I was born and raised.” The line, transcribed by the community wiki’s Last Stag dialogue page, makes the location a personal homecoming as well as a hidden destination.

Hollow Knight is Team Cherry’s game; its official site identifies the title and lists its soundtrack. Steam lists the game as a single-player title developed and published by Team Cherry, released February 24, 2017: Hollow Knight on Steam. The detailed Nest location, access routes and dialogue transcription above are from a community-maintained wiki rather than those official game pages.
