“Water, when?” was the question Keen Games cited ahead of the update. On November 10, 2025, Enshrouded Update 7: Wake of the Water answered it with swimming and diving for every Flameborn, a fishing system, a new high-level region, and simulated water that players can channel through their bases to power crafting machinery.
What Wake of the Water adds
Wake of the Water is Enshrouded Update 7, version 0.9.0.0, released November 10, 2025. Keen Games framed water as both an exploration feature and a building tool: players can enter lakes and rivers, then use water systems in their bases to direct flow and operate new crafting factories.

The update also adds fishing and the tropical Veilwater Basin, alongside a level-cap increase and broad changes to equipment and combat progression. Its main additions fit into four connected parts of play:
- Exploration: swim and dive, with oxygen limiting underwater time.
- Construction: add, remove, and redirect water, then use gates and water wheels in base designs.
- Activities and supplies: fish for cooking and crafting materials.
- Progression: explore a high-level biome and pursue new gear, abilities, and a level cap of 45.
How swimming and diving work
All Flameborn can swim and dive without unlocking the ability. Diving adds an oxygen-management constraint: equipment and food can help extend time underwater, according to the launch notes. This makes submerged locations an exploration challenge rather than simply another route through the world.

Combat is unavailable underwater in the launch version. Weapons and other combat methods cannot be used while submerged, so underwater enemies are hazards to evade or confront from outside the water. Oxygen and positioning therefore matter when exploring submerged ruins or other dangerous areas.
How water changes base building
Water is dynamically simulated and can be added, removed, or redirected in bases. Players can make canals and waterways, while water gates control the flow. The system is more than decoration: water wheels can power new crafting factories, and some new crops grow only when covered by water.
These tools give water a practical role in a settlement. A builder can shape a route for water, manage its movement with gates, and connect the system to machinery or water-dependent crops. The update notes establish those functions, but do not prescribe one required layout; the arrangement is part of the building challenge.
Fishing for food and crafting materials
Fishing provides materials for cooking and crafting. The first rod can be made through the personal crafting menu, so players can begin without first finding a specialist. Catch quality depends in part on location and bait: common fish are available in open water with any bait, while specific fishing spots and more refined bait improve the chance of more interesting catches.
Survivors can provide better fishing gear and bait. The update notes identify a fishing specialist in Veilwater Basin, tying the new activity to exploration of the region as well as to resource gathering.
What to expect in Veilwater Basin
Veilwater Basin is a new high-level biome between the Blackmire and Albaneve Summits. Its tropical landscape includes forests, large lakes and rivers, beaches, abandoned settlements, and submerged ruins. The region also brings new resources, quests, survivors, and Drak enemies.
Keen Games’ launch changelog suggests entering with a level 35 character and good equipment. That is a recommendation for the update’s release-era content, not a hard entry requirement. Update 7 raised the maximum Flameborn level to 45.

Update 7 expanded the equipment and abilities available as characters progress. The additions include more powerful weapon versions, armor and skills, spells and arrows, potions and foods, and the greatsword weapon type. The update also rebalanced weapons, shields, armor, rings, and food buffs; increased weapon durability; and expanded crafting of unlocked lore weapons across tiers.
The October 2025 developer preview clarified that weapons players had already acquired would retain their existing stats; the improved stats applied to equipment obtained after Update 7 released. The changes therefore affected new loot and progression rather than retroactively upgrading every item already in a player’s inventory. Release details and what is current
Keen Games announced the November 10, 2025 release date in its October 23 preview. Update 7’s launch notes describe the mechanics and balance at that release; they should not be treated as confirmation that every detail remains unchanged in the current game. The official major-updates index lists later releases, including Forging the Path on April 21, 2026. Players checking a particular mechanic or balance value in a later build should consult the relevant subsequent patch notes.
