If you want that outcome and its reported ring reward, do not kill him before starting the quest. This guide contains spoilers for the quest’s choices and endings.
Where to find Tazaraak
Look near Dehengen’s Cottage in the Fractured Shore area of Dawnshore. Tazaraak is across a bridge from the cottage and is optional to speak with. The Avowed Wiki’s Cabin Fever reference identifies him as a non-hostile xaurip.
How Tazaraak fits into Cabin Fever
Dehengen asks for help after xaurips take over her cottage. Clear them out, then inspect the wall painting and Dehengen’s Journal before returning to speak with her. She believes she has a soul malady and considers Tazaraak her soul twin. If he is alive, your conversation with her can encourage her to spend time with him or advise her to move on.
Should you kill or spare Tazaraak?
Spare him if you want the peaceful branch. Encouraging Dehengen to pursue the connection leads to an ending in which she and the xaurip warchief learn to live together in peace. A walkthrough reports a unique ring for this positive branch; the quest reference records the peaceful end state but does not specify the reward.

If you spare Tazaraak but advise Dehengen against the relationship, the quest reference says she moves to Paradis’ Shantytown to pursue a new fate. A walkthrough reports experience but no unique ring for this outcome.
If you kill Tazaraak during the quest, a guide says he carries a doll: returning it to Dehengen reportedly awards the Vindictive Band, while keeping it reportedly leads to 300 coins. These reward details come from a third-party walkthrough, not an official quest guide.

Important missable warning
Game8 warns that killing Tazaraak before starting “Cabin Fever” can make Dehengen unresponsive and cost you the ring. If you want to preserve the quest’s peaceful route, leave him alive until the quest is active and you have spoken with Dehengen.
Will Tazaraak and Dehengen appear again?
The quest reference lists the quest end states but does not confirm a reliable later appearance for the pair. Community reports about follow-up appearances vary, so there is no established location or timing to count on.
