To complete the Expert Angler quest in Starsand Island, raise Giant Barb Fish Eggs in a stocked fish pond and deliver them to Hattie, then catch two King-rarity fish and report back to Delphin. The two King fish can be different species. Because available guides disagree about the rod tier and some fishing details, treat the fish windows below as planning references and check the requirements shown in your game.
Complete the quest in this order
- Catch Giant Barbs. Try the river just outside the village; Cloud Rest Lake is another reported location.
- Raise Giant Barb Fish Eggs. Put at least two Giant Barbs in a fish pond. Make sure it has fish food and enough capacity, then wait for eggs to appear. No dependable production timer is established in the available guides.
- Deliver the eggs to Hattie. After the hand-in, speak with Delphin to advance the Angler quest.
- Catch two King fish. They do not have to be the same species. Return to Delphin once you have both.

The wiki.gg Angler table lists six King-rarity fish. Its habitats and catch windows can help you choose a target that fits the current season and time of day. These are secondary-source guide details, not officially verified rules; check in-game conditions before making a dedicated trip.

Where to fish, and how to plan the trip
River and lake targets
Arapaima and Paddlefish are listed as river fish; Glowfish is listed for a lake. A river or lake target may let you avoid an ocean trip if its listed season and time window fit your schedule. The river outside the village and Cloud Rest Lake are reported places to catch Giant Barbs, but that does not establish that every King fish appears at those exact spots.
Ocean targets
The NerdsChalk walkthrough names Celeste Wave, Coral Sea, and Lumen Wave as ocean fishing zones, with access by boat or ferry from south of the Starsand Island port. Another guide uses the spelling “Luminwave,” and zone naming varies among sources. Use the names and access points visible on your map and in your game version; the available guides do not establish an exact unlock path. The wiki.gg table categorizes these King fish simply as Ocean rather than assigning each one to a named zone.
Match the window before leaving
- Check the fish’s habitat, season, and time window in the in-game information you have available.
- Bring the bait type listed for your chosen fish in the table, while treating the table as guide reference rather than a guarantee.
- If an ocean target is not in season or its listed window is inconvenient, consider a river or lake King fish instead, if one is currently available.

Rod requirements and practical fishing tips
Rod recommendations conflict: NerdsChalk says to have at least a Golden Rod, while Neoseeker recommends upgrading to at least a Noble Rod. The available sources do not settle whether Noble is a hard requirement or a cautious preparation suggestion. Check the quest and fish requirements in your game; if you want to reduce the risk of arriving under-equipped, upgrading beyond Golden is the conservative choice.
