When did Squad Busters come out?
Supercell announced Squad Busters’ worldwide launch on May 29, 2024. Before that, the company planned a soft launch for April 23, 2024, after two beta tests. The soft launch was limited to eight countries; the May release was the global launch.

What did Supercell mean by “first new game in over five years”?
The phrase described Supercell’s gap between new-game launches. CEO Ilkka Paananen later called Squad Busters “our first new game launch in over 5 years” in his account of the company’s games. It was a statement about the company’s release history, not a claim that the game itself had been in development for five years.
Interest ahead of release was substantial: Supercell said the game received 40 million pre-registrations in the five weeks before its global launch. That is the company’s reported figure, not an independent count.

How did Squad Busters play?
Squad Busters was a mobile party-action game that brought characters from Clash of Clans, Brawl Stars, Hay Day, Clash Royale, and Boom Beach together. In its 10-person multiplayer matches, players built a squad and competed to collect the most gems, according to Supercell’s global launch announcement and its soft-launch announcement.
What happened to the game after launch?
Supercell reported gross revenue of more than $100 million during the first seven months of 2024. The figure was reported by CEO Ilkka Paananen in 2025; it is a company-reported amount, not an independent estimate.

On October 30, 2025, Supercell announced that active development would end after a final update in December 2025. The company said the game “did not meet the high expectations that both you, our players, and we at Supercell have for our games.” It also said in-app purchases were no longer available. These changes marked the end of active development, not the immediate closure of the game’s servers.

Supercell said it expected to close the game sometime in 2026, not before midyear. Its FAQ described a planned server window from midyear to the end of 2026, while its final-update support page said it would communicate again closer to shutdown. Those announcements do not establish an exact closure date or confirm whether servers remain available on October 8, 2026.
