In MMORPG.GG’s September 20, 2023 impressions of Tarisland’s seven-day closed beta, the most promising elements were class specializations, talent builds, and role-based dungeon combat. The same review found familiar MMO design, limited character customization, and linear, similar-feeling dungeons. It could not determine whether the game was pay to win: premium options and microtransactions were disabled in the test.
Which Tarisland beta does this preview cover?
This is a look at the build described in MMORPG.GG’s September 20, 2023 review, which reports on a seven-day first closed beta. Its impressions and feature details refer to that test, not necessarily to later builds or the current service. The outlet scored its experience 6.5/10.
At the time, Level Infinite presented Tarisland as a free-to-play MMORPG for PC and mobile, with cross-play and cross-progression. Those were publisher announcements, not confirmation of present availability. The review covered PC, so its hands-on observations do not establish how mobile controls or interface performed.
What stood out in the class and build system?
The review describes classes built around the familiar tank, healer, and damage roles, with two specializations per class. The specializations offered a meaningful choice in how to approach a character: its examples include a Paladin set up for melee damage or tanking, and a Ranger choosing between bow-focused Hunting and pet-oriented Taming.

Talents could alter how skills behaved. In the tested build, each specialization had six skills and a talent tree, while each class had two ultimate abilities. MMORPG.GG found these build choices more engaging than the game’s familiar overall design. Gear raised attributes and could affect access to group content; players could improve it with gems and enchantments. The review described gear as functional rather than appearance-changing, with costumes and weapon skins providing cosmetic changes.
How did group combat and dungeons feel?
MMORPG.GG describes five-player dungeons using one tank, one healer, and three damage dealers. Boss guides, ground markers, and audio cues helped explain encounter mechanics, and a performance meter tracked damage and healing. Those features gave groups information to coordinate around, and the reviewer found that combat kept parties engaged through some mechanics.

The review’s main dungeon criticism was that the instances felt linear and structurally similar. Its story was described as generic, though adequately delivered. The reviewer also noted that subtitles did not always match voice lines. These are judgments and observations from that beta review, rather than claims that every player or later build would share them.
What did the next beta add or change?
In an October 30, 2023 preview, Level Infinite described planned adjustments ahead of the next closed beta. These were announced changes, not proof of how a final or current version works.

- Balance and loot: The publisher said it revised secondary attributes, adjusted enemy health and damage, and tuned drops toward each character’s specialization. It also named adjustments for Frost Mage, Tamed Beast Ranger, Bard, and Frozen Barbarian Fighter.
- Raid access: A new Normal raid difficulty was described as having lower health and damage and simpler strategies. The stated aim was to give newer players a way to learn encounters.
- Elite Dungeon groups: Level Infinite said it planned matchmaking for Elite Dungeons.
- Camp Carlyan: The preview introduced this five-player dungeon in SilverLit’s Wilderness, with bosses Boompike, Redpike, and Reggiepike. The first fight includes a mine-cart interaction players can use against the boss.
Level Infinite’s November 6, 2023 developer feature said the second closed beta would begin November 15 for PC and Android players in Argentina, Brazil, Europe, Southeast Asia, Canada, and North America. The announcement listed English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. That describes the announced test at the time, not current regional access.
Could the beta answer whether Tarisland was pay to win?
No. MMORPG.GG reported that premium options and microtransactions were disabled in the beta, so it could not judge the pay-to-win question from that test. It observed a cosmetic market and in-game currency systems, but those observations do not establish how monetization worked outside the beta.

Level Infinite had earlier stated a design principle of “no attribute-enhancing items” for sale during the MMORPG’s lifetime, describing it as a “very important design principle” in its May 26, 2023 announcement. That is the publisher’s stated intention, not independent verification of implementation.

The September 2023 review points to a beta with engaging build options and mechanics-driven group encounters, alongside familiar design, modest customization, and repetitive-feeling dungeons. The later-beta announcements show that Level Infinite said it was working on balance, loot, raid difficulty, and matchmaking. Neither source establishes the state of Tarisland today, so current availability and live-service features should not be inferred from these historical tests.
