Yes. In Patch 4, Team Cherry replaced Hollow Knight: Silksong’s Simplified Chinese text with a fan translation provided by Team Cart Fix. The change followed the developer’s September 2025 statement that improving that localization was its first priority among upcoming patches.
What changed in Patch 4?
Team Cherry’s November 6, 2025 Patch 4 announcement says the Simplified Chinese update uses a translation provided by Team Cart Fix. The patch notes put it plainly: “Updated Simplified Chinese translation to use fan translation provided by Team Cart Fix.” The update was initially described as live on PC and coming to consoles; the announcement page was later updated to say it was live on all platforms. This was not simply a new translation created independently of the game’s prior text. Team Cherry said Team Cart Fix’s work built on elements of the original Silksong translation and retained most existing character and place names. It changed names or wording where the studio considered the original incorrect or inconsistent with Hollow Knight. That is Team Cherry’s description of the revision, not an independent line-by-line assessment of its accuracy.
Why did Team Cherry make the change?
On September 23, 2025, in its Patch 2 announcement, Team Cherry described improving the Simplified Chinese translation as its first priority among upcoming patches, beyond regular fixes. By Patch 4, Team Cherry said Team Cart Fix’s translation had already circulated as a mod and had been praised by many players. The studio did not provide a precise player count. The sequence establishes that the developer acted on reported quality issues and adopted the group’s work; it does not establish a universal consensus or quantify how many players disliked the launch version.
Does the change affect Traditional Chinese?
No: the Patch 4 announcement concerns Simplified Chinese. Traditional Chinese localization was addressed separately in Patch 5, dated March 16, 2026. Team Cherry credited that script to craft (indienova), saying craft worked with the studio on lore accuracy and coordinated with Team Cart Fix to keep critical elements consistent across the Traditional and Simplified versions. What should players expect?
- The adopted Team Cart Fix translation is the game’s Simplified Chinese text, not merely a mod players must install separately.
- Most character and place names were retained, according to Team Cherry, but some wording or names changed where the studio judged the original inconsistent or incorrect.
- Because names can differ across localization updates, players using older guides may encounter mismatches. Team Cherry’s Patch 5 warning specifically addresses proper-noun changes in its localization work.
The change is an official in-game localization update; a physical edition is not required to receive or understand it. Team Cherry lists Silksong and its editions on its official games page.
