It went on sale alongside Astro Bot on September 6, 2024, with Astro-blue accents, etched sci-fi lines and Astro’s eyes on the touchpad. Sony’s announced prices and preorder dates are historical; they do not confirm today’s price or stock.
What is the Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense?
It is a special-edition PlayStation 5 DualSense wireless controller announced by Team Asobi Studio Head Nicolas Doucet. In the July 29, 2024 announcement, Doucet wrote: “Today, it is an immense pleasure to announce that you will be able to charge into Astro’s new supersized adventure along with the cool new DualSense wireless controller – Astro Bot Limited Edition.”
What does the controller look like?
Sony described Astro-blue accents on the handles and buttons, carved-in sci-fi lines, and a pair of Astro’s playful eyes on the touchpad. Sony’s September 6, 2024 launch announcement connected the look to Astro’s in-game Dual Speeder, which is represented as a DualSense controller in the game.
When did it come out?
Sony scheduled preorders to open August 9, 2024, through direct.playstation.com and select retailers. The announced opening time was 7 a.m. PT in the United States and 10 a.m. local time in the named UK and European markets; select retailers in other global markets were also expected to take preorders that day. The controller launched September 6, 2024, the same day Astro Bot launched on PS5.

Is the 2024 original still available?
Current availability of the 2024 original is not established here. Sony said the controller would be available in “limited quantities,” but did not publish a production count; that wording does not establish present-day scarcity. The current official US Astro Bot page features a separately named DualSense Wireless Controller – ASTRO BOT Joyful Limited Edition. Its presence does not verify stock of the 2024 Astro Bot Limited Edition.
If you are checking a listing, confirm the edition name, region, seller, current stock and price. The controller and the PS5 game are separate products; Sony’s launch announcement describes the game’s use of DualSense adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, but that does not make the game part of the controller purchase.
