At Melody Bay in Tadpole Pond, play each eight-note sequence from left to right, then talk to Toadofsky to submit it:
- Frogfucius’ Suite #18: So, La, Mi, Re, Do, Re, Do, Re — earns the Alto Card.
- Moleville Miners’ Song: Mi, Do, So, Do, Re, La, Ti, Do — earns the Tenor Card.
- Monstro Town Star Song: La, Ti, Do, Re, So, Do, Re, Mi — earns the Soprano Card.
The fourth composition has no fixed answer: choose any notes to finish the activity.
How to play a melody at Melody Bay
Melody Bay is in Tadpole Pond. Tadpoles move along the water’s musical staff; when one reaches the position for the note you need, press B to jump on it. The staff’s rows, from top to bottom, are Mi, Re, Do, Ti, La, So, Fa. This vertical order tells you which note a tadpole represents; enter the notes in the sequence shown for the song, moving left to right through the melody. After entering all eight notes, speak with Toadofsky to submit it.
Nintendo’s manual describes the activity as jumping on tadpoles to make a melody and notes that someone nearby can give a hint: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars manual.

Song labels vary slightly among guides, but the note sequences match. Each fixed solution contains eight notes.

The first clue comes from a tadpole near the path into Melody Bay. This puzzle is available when you reach Tadpole Pond.

Moleville Miners’ Song
After progressing through Moleville and the mines, including rescuing Dyna and Mite, return to Tadpole Pond. The miners’ song in Moleville Mines provides the clues for the second melody.
Monstro Town Star Song
In Monstro Town, go upstairs in Monstermama’s house and speak with the Starslap to hear the tune. Then return to Melody Bay and play it for Toadofsky.

What happens after the three songs
Once you have submitted all three fixed melodies, Toadofsky asks you to compose one more. There is no required fourth sequence: choose the notes freely to complete the activity.
The Alto, Tenor, and Soprano Cards unlock further drinks at the Tadpole Pond Juice Bar. GameSpot’s guide lists the progression as Frogleg Cola (80 HP), Finless Cola (150 HP), and Croaka Cola (full-party recovery), alongside the default Tadpola Cola (30 HP). The guide also says prices are reduced after all music puzzles are complete; these item and price details are guide-reported information.
