Who qualifies for a free copy?
Nightdive’s reported announcement describes two distinct routes to the remaster entitlement. The eligibility excerpt is reproduced in a Steam Community discussion, rather than in an original Kickstarter or BackerKit update available here, so treat the pledge threshold as a reported announcement—not as a guide to code delivery or account troubleshooting. The two offers should not be conflated: the backer route is tied to pledge level, while the preorder route is tied to a PC remake preorder and its storefront. The quoted terms do not establish that buying a physical edition through Amazon qualifies.
What if I cannot find the remaster in my library?
The available announcement excerpt does not specify when codes or entitlements were delivered, where a backer should look in a campaign portal, or what account-resolution steps to take. It would be unsafe to infer those details. Check the original campaign communication or contact Nightdive through its official channels for case-specific help.

Where can you buy the remaster now?

When did the remaster come out?
The remaster is no longer an upcoming release. PlayStation Blog announced a June 26, 2025 release for PS4 and PS5, and Xbox Wire announced the same date for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. PlayStation Blog’s release announcement and Xbox Wire’s article on the remaster give the console date. The PlayStation article notes that the project was first announced as System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition before being renamed.

What happens to the 1999 original on Steam?
In an official Steam notice dated October 7, 2025, the original System Shock 2 was scheduled to leave sale on October 10, 2025. The notice says existing owners retain access, and that both new and existing owners of the 25th Anniversary Remaster can access the 1999 game in their libraries at no additional cost.
