Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate launched on Nintendo Switch on July 17, 2024. It is a co-op roguelike action game in which randomized rooms, power-ups and boss modifiers make each attempt to rescue Splinter play out differently.

What kind of game is Splintered Fate?

The story begins with Splinter kidnapped by Shredder and portals appearing across New York City. Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo battle the Foot Clan to get their father back. Nintendo describes the game as a roguelike quest, with action combat and a progressive narrative.

Runs vary through randomized room layouts, power-ups and boss modifiers. The result is a game built around adapting to the combination of upgrades and encounters on a given attempt, rather than repeating an identical route. Nintendo’s US Switch listing describes all four Turtles as playable, each with unique powers.

Playable Turtles and build options

Choose Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello or Michelangelo, then shape a run with powers drawn from elements and themes including water, fire, Utrom, ooze, light, darkness and ninja. These options provide different combinations to develop as rooms and encounters change. The announcement also points to familiar allies and enemies and four New York City locations.

Can you play co-op locally or online?

Yes. Nintendo’s Switch listing describes both local and online co-op. The details vary by edition and storefront, so check the listing for the platform you plan to use before relying on a particular player count or membership requirement.

For the Switch 2 edition specifically, Nintendo Australia lists one to four players locally and online, and says online modes require a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership. It also lists GameShare and GameChat support. Those are Switch 2 listing details, not a basis for assuming identical requirements on the original Switch version. What changed after the original Switch launch?

Super Evil Megacorp’s dated patch notes record Switch version 1.1.1 on July 30, 2024, with fixes for major causes of Switch crashes. Its Switch version 1.5.0 notes, dated August 19, 2024, describe fixes related to couch co-op and online play. The notes also say the Apple Arcade version received 1.5.0 on August 22, 2024, adding couch co-op and allowing Apple and Switch players to play together using a run code. These are historical update notes; they do not establish the game’s current bug status or guarantee that every platform behaves the same today. The dated entries are available in the official patch notes.

Is the Switch still the only console version?

No. The publisher called the planned Switch release a “timed console exclusive” in its April 19, 2024 announcement. That describes the announcement at the time, not the game’s current platform status: Nintendo’s storefront now also lists a Switch 2 edition. The reviewed listings do not establish that Switch remains the only console platform today. The original statement is in Super Evil Megacorp’s announcement.

For physical collectors, GAME Spain’s 2025 catalog documents a Deluxe Edition and a Pipin’ Hot collector edition. The catalog says the collector package included a physical game, Casey Jones DLC, tabletop dice and case, a 50-page art book and retro manual, collector cards, a coin, a comic and posters; it listed the edition as limited to 400 units and gave a 2025 release date. This is evidence of a Spain-market catalog offer, not confirmation of current stock or availability elsewhere. See the GAME Spain catalog.

What the 2024 announcement said about player reviews

Super Evil Megacorp’s April 19, 2024 announcement reported that an earlier release had received more than 22,000 five-star player reviews. The announcement did not identify the review platform, so this should be read as the publisher’s historical claim, not as a current rating or an independently verified review count.
