Start with connection and room conditions, then consider fit, microphone design, sound balance, and platform compatibility. Wireless is convenient, but a wired headset avoids charging. An open-back design can sound more spacious, but it lets room noise in and sound out. Best for wireless flexibility: Turtle Beach Stealth 600 (Gen 3)
RTINGS names the Stealth 600 (Gen 3) its best under-$100 gaming headset. It offers a low-latency USB-dongle connection and Bluetooth, plus a flip-up-to-mute boom microphone. RTINGS reports an 85-hour battery-life figure for the product; treat that as a published figure, not a promise of identical runtime in every setup. The headset cannot be used wired, so it is not the right choice if you need a no-charge fallback.
Fit can affect how it sounds: RTINGS notes that glasses and different head shapes may change perceived bass response. If possible, check the fit and return policy before committing.

Best wired pick: GLORIOUS GHS Eternal RGB
RTINGS names the GHS Eternal RGB its best wired option. It has a boom microphone and needs no battery charging. The review describes it as sturdier and more comfortable than its overall pick, but notes that its bass-heavy sound can muddy finer details and that its app is less configurable. Consider it if you prefer wired simplicity and comfort over a more restrained sound balance.
Best open-back option: Philips SHP9500
The SHP9500’s open-back design can create a more spacious presentation, and RTINGS notes clear dialogue. The trade-offs are substantial: it does little to block ambient noise, produces less bass impact, and needs a separate microphone for voice chat. It makes the most sense in a controlled, quiet room—not a noisy shared space where sound leakage or isolation matters.

A fourth option: HyperX Cloud III as a deal alternative
The available evidence does not establish a fourth headset that won the same comparison as the three picks above. If you need a fourth name to consider, the HyperX Cloud III is a value alternative when discounted: PC Gamer’s October 2026 Prime Day coverage listed it at $57.99, down from a stated $99.99. That is a time- and event-specific US deal snapshot, not a lasting price or evidence that it ranked fourth in a common test.
