The Ancient Doll has several uses in Stardew Valley beyond Museum donation: it can make a Doll Shirt, serve as blue dye, earn friendship with Jas, fill an option in the remixed Children’s Bundle, and trigger a secret lava interaction. What is the Ancient Doll?
The Ancient Doll is an artifact. Its in-game description reads: “An ancient doll covered in grime. This doll may have been used as a toy, a decoration, or a prop in some kind of ritual.” That wording is a description of the item, not confirmation of its fictional history.

The Stardew Valley Wiki lists its sale price as 60g. The same page lists artifact-spot chances of 3% in the Mountain, 2.4% at the Bus Stop, 2.4% in Cindersap Forest, and 0.8% in Pelican Town. What should you do with an Ancient Doll after donating one?
Donate an initial copy if you are working toward Museum collection progress. The artifact entry does not list a unique reward for donating the Ancient Doll itself; Museum donations contribute to overall collection progress and its milestone rewards, as described in the Artifacts overview.

For a later copy, choose based on what you want to accomplish:
- Make clothing: Use it in the spool of a Sewing Machine to make the Doll Shirt.
- Dye clothing: Put it in the blue-dye slot at the dye pots in Emily and Haley’s house.
- Build friendship: Give it to Jas, who loves it. The Dwarf and Penny like it; the item entry lists other villagers as disliking it.
- Complete a bundle: It is one possible item for the Children’s Bundle when the Community Center uses remixed bundles. This is not a requirement in every save.
- Find the secret: Throw it into a qualifying lava pool; the interaction and reward are detailed below.
The Ancient Doll is not used in quests, according to its item entry.

How does the Ancient Doll secret work?
Throw the Ancient Doll into the lava pool on floor 100 of the Mines or into the lava in the Volcano Caldera to trigger a secret-item interaction. The item page’s version history associates the Far Away Stone reward with version 1.6. If your game build has not received that update, the reward may differ; the available source does not establish platform-by-platform behavior or a current build number.
How else can you obtain one?
Alongside artifact spots, fishing treasure chests, and Artifact Troves, the item page lists several less routine sources: a Feast of the Winter Star gift, a gift from a max-friendship dog, and a purchase from Jas for one Calico Egg during the Desert Festival. These are game-specific mechanics. The listed spot chances vary by location, so an Ancient Doll is not equally likely to appear in every artifact spot.

There is no official priority order. A practical approach is to donate the first copy for collection progress, then keep later copies for a use you actively want: the shirt or dye, Jas’s friendship, a remixed bundle, or the secret reward. Selling it for the listed 60g is another option, but it means giving up that copy’s other uses.
