Build Megachad around Aura, then choose Aegis for close-range protection or Lightning Staff for ranged crowd control. Prioritize Damage, Cooldown, and Size to strengthen Aura, and adapt your pickups to the run rather than expecting a fixed recipe. This guide follows recommendations reviewed for Megabonk v1.0.69 on July 29, 2026; check for later balance changes before relying on it. The advice comes from an independent player guide, not an official developer build recommendation.
Why Aura is the core of a Megachad build
Megachad starts with Aura, which the character guide describes as continuous close-range area damage. The independent build guide treats Aura as the mandatory centerpiece and recommends scaling it with Damage, Cooldown, and Size. Together, those upgrades increase its damage, how often it acts, and the area it covers.
The character guide describes Megachad’s Muscle Flex as an automatic ability that triggers on cooldown, briefly prevents damage, and stuns nearby enemies. It says each activation adds 2.5% damage for that run, with a 15-second base cooldown and a five-second minimum at ability level 50. These are figures reported by the independent guide; the sources reviewed do not include an official developer reference confirming them. If Kevin or Leeching Crystal is making Muscle Flex trigger reliably, the build guide recommends leaning especially into Cooldown and Size because Flex already contributes damage scaling. Choose your supporting weapon
Aura handles the close-range foundation. Your second weapon should address what the run needs: more protection in the frontline or damage that reaches enemies before they arrive.

- Compatible with Windows and Android.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.

- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
| Weapon | Role | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| Aegis | Blocks hits and emits shockwaves, adding close-range defensive control. | You want another layer of safety around Megachad. |
| Lightning Staff | Chains lightning among nearby enemies to thin crowds at range. | Ranged crowd control would help more than a second defensive layer. |
These are complementary options, not competing versions of the same tool. The build guide gives Aegis high priority for frontline safety, while Lightning Staff is the ranged alternative. Build recommendations
Which tomes should you prioritize?
Use the offered upgrade and your run’s needs to decide between Aura’s three main scaling stats. Damage directly strengthens its output; Cooldown means more frequent weapon activity; Size broadens coverage. When Muscle Flex is triggering reliably, the guide places particular value on Cooldown and Size. If your damage or survivability is falling behind, respond to that instead of following a rigid order.

- Damage: choose it when you need more direct damage from Aura.
- Cooldown: choose it to increase how frequently Aura acts, especially when Flex is reliably supplying damage scaling.
- Size: choose it to broaden Aura’s coverage, also especially valuable alongside reliable Flex triggers.
- XP and Luck: the guide identifies these as ways to help a run snowball; take them when that growth is useful relative to immediate combat needs.
- Cursed/Difficulty: treat it as an optional risk-reward choice. It increases enemy pressure, so it is not a default safety pick.
The guide’s tome recommendations
How to use items and sustain pickups
Think of these as conditional pickups, not required components of a set build. Take what suits your current weakness and what the run offers.
- Campfire or Medkit: sustain options when recovery matters.
- Mirror: a brief invulnerability response.
- Spiky Shield: a consideration when investing in Armor.
- Sucky Magnet: helps collect XP.
The build guide recommends these combinations, but it does not make every item a guaranteed part of a successful run. Item and survival recommendations

Pick a route for the way you want to play
Beginner or semi-AFK: reduce inputs, not attention to zero
Upgrade Aura, add Aegis, and favor Size and Cooldown. Add healing or protection when those pickups appear. This approach can reduce how much active input the build demands, but it does not make every encounter safe to ignore: positioning and pickups still matter.
Ranged control: thin the crowd before it closes
Keep Aura as the anchor and add Lightning Staff when ranged chain damage is more useful than another defensive layer. Favor Cooldown and enough damage and survival to manage approaching swarms.

Active boss play: keep moving through telegraphs
Retain Aura, take a reliable ranged or single-target supplement if the run offers one, and move during boss telegraphs. The build guide’s AFK framing does not mean every boss can be ignored; use movement and timing when the encounter calls for them.
Build guide and playstyle recommendations
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can Megachad survive a genuinely unattended run?
Do not treat semi-AFK as a guarantee of full AFK survival. The build can lower input demands through Aura, defensive support, and sustain, but the guide still calls out positioning and pickups, and warns that bosses may require attention. An unattended run is therefore not assured by this build.
