The crucial caveat: the companies said this was a technical showcase, not gameplay from the finished game, so its frame rate and features are not promises about the eventual release.
What CD PROJEKT RED and Epic showed
At State of Unreal 2025 on June 3, CD PROJEKT RED and Epic shared an early-development technology demonstration set in the world of The Witcher 4. CD PROJEKT RED described it as an in-engine capabilities showcase, while the official Witcher page called it an early-development tech demo. PlayStation Blog coverage explicitly cautioned that it was not gameplay, though the scene follows Ciri during a dangerous monster contract.
That distinction matters: the presentation uses the setting and protagonist to demonstrate technology and storytelling in an in-engine scene, but it does not establish what playing The Witcher 4 will look or feel like.
What the PS5 performance claim means
Epic and CD PROJEKT RED reported that this particular demo ran on PlayStation 5 at 60 frames per second; Epic also said it ran with ray tracing. Those are claims about the technology showcase presented in 2025, not verified performance targets for the full game.
