Oblivion Remastered brings back Horse Pack Armor in both the Standard and Deluxe editions. Deluxe also includes quests that reward two unique horse armor sets—Cataclysm and Order—along with Akatosh- and Mehrunes Dagon-themed weapons and armor. Here’s what each edition gets you and where to start the quests.
Is the horse armor new in Oblivion Remastered?
Some of it is returning content, and some is tied to new Deluxe Edition quests. Bethesda lists Horse Pack Armor as included additional content in both editions. Its edition breakdown separately assigns the unique Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon sets and their quests to Deluxe. The quest rewards are named Cataclysm Horse Armor and Order Horse Armor.
The headline’s wink about the armor’s return is a familiar reference to the original game’s Horse Armor Pack, but Bethesda’s support pages do not explain why the content returned or describe the remaster as a joke.

Bethesda’s cited pages do not establish whether every storefront, upgrade, or regional arrangement offers the same purchase options. They do establish that Horse Pack Armor is listed with both editions and the unique quest sets with Deluxe.

How to get Cataclysm Horse Armor
- Go to the center of Talos Plaza.
- Find and read the note on a barrel to start Burning Trail.
- Complete the quest to receive Cataclysm Horse Armor, as stated in Bethesda’s quest instructions.
Where to start A Wound in Time for Order Horse Armor
- Find Ilav Dralgoner, an Imperial Priest, on the road between the camp and Kvatch.
- Speak with him to start A Wound in Time.
- Complete the quest to receive Order Horse Armor, according to Bethesda’s quest instructions.
What does horse armor do?
The cited Bethesda support pages identify the armor as included content or a quest reward, but do not specify whether it changes protection, combat, or horse performance. No gameplay effect can be established from those descriptions.
