What happened during the second beta weekend?
EA scheduled Battlefield 6 Open Beta Weekend 2 for August 14–17, 2025. It added the Empire State map, Rush, Squad Deathmatch, and more challenge content. EA’s beta guide and beta announcement set out the schedule and content.
On August 14, GamesRadar reported that Battlefield Comms had acknowledged ongoing matchmaking issues affecting some players when they tried to queue for playlists. The account said the team was actively investigating. GamesRadar’s report attributes the statement to Battlefield Comms; it is secondary reporting, not a direct inspection of the original social post.
What did EA say about players having trouble finding games?
In an August 21 retrospective, EA said some players had difficulty finding matches needed to complete the Breakthrough or Rush sector-capture challenge. EA said it was using player feedback and in-game data to review and improve matchmaking, with the goal of a smoother experience. Why were playlist options limited?
EA said the beta had a limited variety of playlist options to showcase and test matchmaking flexibility. That approach gave the team a more focused set of playlist conditions to examine, while some players found it difficult to get into matches for particular challenges. The retrospective describes the intent and the player difficulty, but does not quantify the effect or say that limiting playlists caused every matchmaking problem.
What troubleshooting advice was reported at the time?
GamesRadar’s contemporaneous report relayed two suggestions: update the game client and use the EA App’s Repair function. The report did not establish that either step fixed the playlist matchmaking issue, so treat them as suggestions made at the time, not confirmed remedies.

How large was the beta, according to EA?
EA’s retrospective infographic reported these Open Beta totals. They are EA-reported figures, not independent measurements:
- 420 million matches.
- 92 million hours played.
- 4.9 billion enemies killed.
- 30.9 million revives.
- More than 600,000 hours streamed and more than 30 million hours watched.
Does this mean Battlefield 6 matchmaking is still broken?
No conclusion about the released game’s current matchmaking follows from these reports. They document issues during the August 2025 Open Beta and EA’s subsequent retrospective; they do not verify whether the same issue persisted after the beta or affects the released game now.
