The Walking Dead: Destinies has an appealing hook for fans of AMC’s show: revisit pivotal events from Seasons 1–4 and choose who survives and how the story changes. But the player-rating snapshots available on Steam and PlayStation are weak, and review excerpts raise concerns about presentation and gameplay. That makes it a difficult recommendation for anyone expecting a polished action-adventure; its clearest appeal is the chance to steer familiar early-season events.
What is The Walking Dead: Destinies?
It is a third-person action-adventure based on critical moments from the first four seasons of AMC’s The Walking Dead. The official site says players can “control the outcome of the story,” making the central draw an alternate take on recognizable events rather than a new chapter in the television series. The premise is a natural fit for fans curious about changing the characters’ fates, though the available review evidence suggests the execution may not match that appeal.

The official game site lists the game for Steam, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. It also lists a physical Nintendo Switch release date of January 16, 2024. Current prices and stock were not established, so check the storefront or retailer for the platform and format you want.
What do player ratings say?
The storefront snapshots captured on October 8, 2026 show unfavorable player reception on both Steam and PlayStation, but these are separate platform aggregates, not critic scores, and they should not be combined. Store ratings can change as more players submit reviews.

Taken together, those comments capture the game’s main trade-off: its branching-story premise may appeal to fans who want to revisit the show differently, while concerns about how it looks, runs, and plays may matter more to buyers seeking a polished action game.

Before buying, match the listing to your platform and confirm whether it is a physical or digital copy. The official site lists a physical Switch release, while Steam and the PlayStation Store provide digital storefront listings; current pricing and inventory were not verified.

The ESRB rates the game Mature 17+ for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, and Strong Language. This is a violent adaptation of a series known for mature content, not a suitable pick for younger players.
