The Unofficial Oblivion Remastered Patch (UORP) is a community-made bug-fixing mod for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and its DLC. Its project listing describes hundreds of fixes, and its history says the team carried forward and adapted work from the classic game’s unofficial-patch effort. The “11-year tradition” framing is not independently confirmed by the sources cited here.
What the Unofficial Oblivion Remastered Patch does
UORP is intended to address bugs in the remastered game and its DLC. The project listing describes fixes to scripts, quests, NPCs, objects, items, dialogue, and other records. It says the records were checked with xEdit for validity in the remastered game, but does not give a dated, exact total of fixes.
The project history describes adapting the earlier unofficial-patch work to changes made for the remaster by Virtuos: resource fixes no longer needed were dropped, while hundreds of fixes from the classic Oblivion patch effort that developers had not addressed were retained. That makes UORP a continuation of the earlier community effort, though the precise 11-year duration in the headline is not established by the available sources.
How UORP differs from Bethesda’s official updates
UORP is a community mod; Bethesda’s updates are official game patches. They are separate efforts, and Bethesda does not endorse or officially support UORP. Bethesda says mods are not officially supported for Oblivion Remastered.

| Patch type | Who publishes it | Scope described by the source | Compatibility information |
|---|---|---|---|
| Official Update 1.2 | Bethesda | Its July 16, 2025 notes cover quests, gameplay, and performance. Examples include fixing disappearing map markers and NPCs stopping combat while the player blocks. | The cited update notes identify Update 1.2; they do not establish UORP compatibility. |
| UORP | Community project, not made, guaranteed, or supported by Microsoft, ZeniMax, Bethesda Game Studios, Virtuos Games, or their affiliates | Community bug fixes across scripts, quests, NPCs, objects, items, dialogue, and other records. | The project listing names a minimum game build; check its current files and requirements against the game version installed. |
Official updates can fix bugs independently of community mods. For example, Bethesda’s Update 1.2 notes include quest and gameplay fixes; UORP’s listing describes a separate set of changes.
Requirements to check before installing
- Game version: The UORP listing requires version 1.511.102.0, Build 235906, or later, and says older versions are unsupported. This is the requirement stated on the listing, not confirmation that every later game update is compatible.
- Deluxe Edition: Owners are told to download an additional Deluxe patch package.
- Load order: Follow the ordering instructions on the live UORP listing. It warns that official game files must remain in the prescribed order and that no mods should be inserted among them; changing the order can crash the game. The project recommends LOOT as a starting point for ordering other mods.
How to install UORP safely
Use the project’s current installation instructions and files rather than relying on an old download guide: updates to the game or mod can change compatibility details.
Rank #2
- Live another life in another world, create and play any character you can imagine
- An all-new combat and magic system brings first person role-playing to a new level of intensity
- Groundbreaking AI system gives characters full 24/7 schedules
- New lands to explore in the Shivering Isles expansion
- Challenging new foes, hideous insects, Flesh Atronachs, skeletal Shambles, amphibeous Grummites and more
- Check the installed game version against the minimum listed by UORP. Do not assume compatibility with a newer game update solely because the listing says “or later.”
- Download the UORP files from the project listing. If you own the Deluxe Edition, also download the separate Deluxe patch package specified there.
- Install the files according to the listing’s instructions, then verify that the official game files remain in the prescribed order and that no other mod sits among them.
- For other mods, treat LOOT as a starting point for load ordering, as UORP recommends. Do not let a sorting tool override the project’s specific instructions for the official files.
If the game has problems after installing mods
Bethesda’s troubleshooting guidance says to uninstall mods and verify the game files through Steam or the Xbox App if gameplay trouble occurs while using mods. Because Bethesda does not officially support mods for this game, isolate the issue before assuming it is a bug in UORP: remove mods, verify the base game, then consult the mod’s own instructions before trying again.
UORP also states that it is not made, guaranteed, or supported by Microsoft, ZeniMax, Bethesda Game Studios, Virtuos Games, or their affiliates. Its listing and Bethesda’s support guidance therefore do not establish official endorsement or support for the mod.
