Before advancing the calendar, decide which of those matters most to you. In combat, gather information, look for a chance to strike first, and exploit enemy weaknesses; outside combat, remember that Archetypes and bonds shape the options available to your party.
How to spend your time without treating every activity as urgent
The game separates many activities between day and night. ATLUS describes daytime as a chance to quest, explore dungeons, and hunt for treasure, while nights can be used to strengthen relationships, build bonds, and increase virtues. Its official site explicitly flags time management as important. Xbox Wire likewise notes that choices move the day-and-night cycle forward and that time is limited.
That makes the useful question less “What should I do every day?” and more “What am I choosing to prioritize with this block of time?” A dungeon visit advances exploration; time with a follower develops a bond; virtue-building supports another kind of progress. These are competing uses of the calendar, not chores that should all be forced into a single day.
- Choose dungeon progress when advancing a quest or exploring is your priority.
- Choose a follower bond when you want to invest in a relationship and its connection to Archetypes.
- Choose virtue development when improving those qualities is the goal.
The official descriptions establish these broad trade-offs, but they do not establish a universally optimal activity order, exact virtue thresholds, or a guaranteed schedule for completing every optional activity. Make decisions based on your goals rather than following an unsupported “perfect calendar.” ATLUS’s official game site describes the day/night activities and warns that time management matters; Xbox Wire’s launch guide also discusses the limited cycle.

What to do before and during a fight
Metaphor: ReFantazio combines real-time action with turn-based combat. ATLUS calls it “An exhilarating turn-based combat system with a blend of real-time action.” That description is a useful reminder that encounters are not just about picking actions after battle begins: preparation and how you enter a fight also matter.
Gather information and try to start with an advantage
Xbox Wire reports that director Katsura Hashino recommends using Gallica to scan enemies and gauge danger, and taking advantage of surprise attacks. Use that information to approach a fight with a better sense of what you are facing instead of rushing in without assessing the threat.

Exploit weaknesses to gain more actions
When you identify an enemy weakness, use it. Xbox Wire’s account of Hashino’s advice says exploiting weaknesses can earn additional actions. That makes enemy information directly useful: scanning helps you understand the danger, while weakness exploitation can improve how much your party can do during a battle.
Adjust difficulty if the challenge is getting in the way
The game offers a difficulty setting that can be adjusted if the challenge feels overwhelming, according to Xbox Wire. Changing it is an available way to tailor the experience, not a measure of player skill.

Why Archetypes matter to your party
Archetypes are the game’s central party-customization system. Xbox Wire’s October 2024 launch article describes 14 core Archetype lineages that branch into more than 40 Archetypes, with powers that can be swapped across the party. It also explains that followers help awaken and strengthen Archetypes. These figures describe the system in that launch article; they are not a recommendation to chase a particular build.
Think of Archetypes as flexible combat roles rather than a single fixed class choice. Their connection to followers means relationship-building and combat customization intersect: time spent with followers can help develop the Archetype options that inform party choices. Experiment with the options you unlock and choose roles that suit how you want to approach encounters; the cited official guidance does not establish one best early lineup.
