Notebookcheck reported on March 22, 2025, that it had reached second place in SteamDB’s “Hot Releases” section after launching on the same day as Assassin’s Creed Shadows. That is a dated chart report, not a statement of its current ranking.
What is Yasuke Simulator?
Yasuke Simulator is an indie action game by HistoryAccurateDevelopers. Notebookcheck characterized it as a deliberately exaggerated, meme-oriented parody of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Its description places Yasuke alongside Oda Nobunaga in Japan in 1579 and points to comic cosmetics such as pink samurai shades, beer helmets, and Bengal tiger outfits. Those details describe the game’s satirical presentation; they are not an independent historical assessment or a hands-on evaluation of its gameplay. Notebookcheck’s report was published March 22, 2025, and updated March 23.

What did the SteamDB ranking mean?
Notebookcheck said Yasuke Simulator was number two in SteamDB’s “Hot Releases” section when it reported the story in March 2025. The rank should be read in that historical context: the available reporting does not establish where the game appears on SteamDB now, or how long it held that position. It is also not evidence of a particular sales total or a direct measure of overall popularity.
Why was it compared with Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
The games shared a launch date: Notebookcheck reported that Yasuke Simulator arrived on Steam on March 20, 2025, the same day Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched. SteamDB’s listing for Assassin’s Creed Shadows identifies Ubisoft as its publisher and also gives March 20, 2025 as its release date. The comparison is therefore grounded in timing and the reported parody framing, not a tested comparison of quality, performance, or gameplay.
