You can make steady progress in Throne and Liberty on your own, but “solo” means different things across the game: some activities are built for one player, solo queue places you in a group, and shared-world content can expose you to other players. For efficient leveling, follow the main story and Adventure Codex, use Contracts to fill level gaps, and choose solo instances when you want to practice without relying on a party.
Start with the story and Adventure Codex
The main story and Adventure Codex are the recommended core route for leveling and developing skills. Follow the Codex objectives first; if an objective requires a higher character level, switch to nearby activities until you meet its requirement. The official character progression guide, published by Amazon Game Studios on October 1, 2024, describes this as the central progression path. Exact systems may have changed since publication.

Use Contracts to bridge level gaps
Pick up local Contracts in towns when the Codex stalls. Favor tasks in the same area as your story objective so that travel and combat advance more than one goal at a time. Contracts can award experience, Training Dew for mastery of an equipped weapon, crafting materials, and Abyssal Contract Tokens, according to the progression guide.
Choose Lithograph Book entries selectively
Work toward rewards that help your character rather than trying to complete every Lithograph Book entry. The progression guide says full completion is not required, so treat the book as a source of targeted rewards, not a mandatory checklist.

Pick activities by how solo they really are
Three different activity types can look “solo” in the menus or in conversation. A solo instance is designed for one player; solo queue is a way to enter matchmaking alone but still play with a party; open-world content is shared and may involve other players.
| Activity | What solo means | What it is useful for | Access and player risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taedel’s Tower | A genuine solo instance | Practice boss patterns and earn floor rewards, including Growthstones and Amitoi | The 2024 official dungeon overview describes 20 floors and one-time rewards per floor; check the live client for current availability and details |
| Hall of Illusion | A genuine solo instance | Higher-level solo challenges with changing boss patterns | NCSOFT announced it on March 6, 2025, for level-55-plus characters, with five difficulty levels, no time restriction, and weekly objectives. Current access and rewards may differ |
| Co-op dungeon solo queue | You queue without a premade party, then matchmaking places you in a group | Accessing group dungeon encounters and their rewards when you do not have a party ready | The official overview describes these as six-player teamwork encounters; they are not solo runs |
| Abyss dungeons | Shared open-world dungeon content | Experience, Sollant bonuses, and access to exclusive loot drops when using Abyssal Contract Tokens | The 2024 guide describes daytime PvE and nighttime PvP-enabled conditions. Other players may be a threat depending on timing; verify current rules in game |
Use solo instances to learn fights and build up
Taedel’s Tower
Taedel’s Tower is the clearest choice when you want a genuinely solo dungeon challenge. Amazon Game Studios’ October 1, 2024 overview describes a 20-floor mode with one-time rewards for each floor, including Growthstones and Amitoi. Use the fights to learn attack patterns and improve your timing without depending on a party. The stated floor count and rewards reflect that guide and could change in later updates.
Hall of Illusion
For a dated example of higher-level solo content, NCSOFT’s March 6, 2025 announcement introduced Hall of Illusion for characters level 55 and above. The announcement described five difficulty levels, no time restriction, weekly objectives, and boss patterns that evolve as players progress. Its listed rewards included Chaos and Precious-grade Runes, Nebula Island Accessories, Epic Lv.2 Weapons, and Obsidian Pieces. Treat these as announcement-era details, not a guarantee of what is available in the October 2026 client.
That same announcement quoted Executive Producer Gunsoo Park: “We have improved the system to ensure fair competition and a more enjoyable combat experience.” The statement concerns system improvements, not a recommended solo weapon setup.
Prepare before taking on harder content
Solo play gives you control over your pace, but it does not remove the need to grow your character before tougher encounters. The official dungeon guide recommends developing your gear and skills before taking on challenges.
- Craft and upgrade gear: Improve your equipment as you progress rather than assuming story rewards alone will carry you through every harder fight.
- Develop your skills: Keep skill growth moving alongside gear upgrades so your character can handle tougher encounters.
- Use Contracts for useful resources: Their experience, Training Dew, and crafting materials can support both leveling and development.
- Try a solo instance before a group challenge: Practicing boss patterns on your own can help you recognize attacks and improve execution.
The reviewed official sources do not compare weapon pairings or establish a best weapon combination for solo play. Since balance can change, avoid treating any universal pairing as settled without current, patch-specific evidence.

Abyss dungeons are shared-world content, not protected solo instances. Amazon Game Studios’ October 1, 2024 dungeon guide describes PvE during the day and PvP-enabled conditions at night. If those rules apply in your live version, a solo trip at night can mean facing hostile players as well as monsters. Check the in-game rules and timing before committing to a run.
The guide says Abyssal Contract Tokens support experience and Sollant bonuses in the dungeon and unlock exclusive loot drops. Consider the token benefit against the possibility of player conflict and the cost of an interrupted run. The guide is dated; current token effects and Abyss rules should be confirmed in game.

The progression guide says characters level 40 and above can use the Auction House to check for available materials, sell valuable items, and sell food. Availability and prices vary, so use it to address a current gear or crafting need rather than assuming a particular item will be listed or affordable.
Quick solo-play decision guide
- You need levels: Continue the main story and Adventure Codex, then use nearby Contracts if a level gate stops you.
- You want practice and solo rewards: Try Taedel’s Tower or, if available to your character, Hall of Illusion.
- You want co-op dungeon rewards but have no party: Use solo queue, knowing matchmaking puts you into a group.
- You want Abyss rewards: Check current PvP conditions and token effects before entering, especially if you are alone.
- You need a particular item or material: Check the Auction House at level 40 or above, while accounting for changing listings and prices.
These recommendations draw on official guides published in 2024 and a Hall of Illusion announcement from March 2025. They explain the activity distinctions and progression approach documented at those dates; later updates may alter requirements, rewards, or rules.
