How Connections works

The New York Times Help Center describes Connections as a game in which players receive 16 words and find four groups of four that share something in common. The groups are color-coded from yellow, the easiest, to purple, the trickiest; words may seem to fit more than one category, but each puzzle has one solution. See the NYT Help Center’s Connections guide.

The daily game releases at midnight in the player’s timezone and can be played on the NYT Games website and apps. The Help Center describes the full Connections archive as available to All Access and Games subscribers; check the current NYT Games access details for up-to-date subscription terms.
