  • Yellow: Pointy.
  • Green: Plucky devices.
  • Blue: See you in court.

For a little more guidance, the groups concern pointy things that stick out and can hurt, something you play music on, legal actions, and words from a popular nursery rhyme. The 16 tiles are PEG, SUE, MOVE, NEEDLE, MAY, BARB, NECK, TONIGHT, BRIDGE, MIGHT, WISH, STRING, BRISTLE, SERVE, SPINE, and CHARGE.

How Connections works

Connections asks players to sort 16 words into four groups of four related items. TechRadar’s explainer describes the color-coded difficulty levels as green (easy), yellow (a little harder), blue (often quite tough), and purple (usually very difficult); that is a general description, not a difficulty rating for this particular puzzle. Its guide also describes play through NYT Games on desktop or mobile and says players can make up to four mistakes. Access and app or archive policies may vary, and that guide does not establish current availability conditions.
