Today’s NYT Strands puzzle for Tuesday, December 17, 2024, is game #289. Its theme is “It’s Lit!”—a set of book genres. If you want to solve it yourself first, start with the hints below; the complete answer list is farther down, behind a spoiler warning.
Hints for Strands #289
- Theme: Think of types of books and literary genres.
- Spangram direction: It runs horizontally from the left edge of the board to the right.
- Spangram opening letters: FI. Parade also gives the opening-letter prompts RO, CR, WE, HI, FA, and FI for the theme words and spangram. See Parade’s December 17 guide and TechRadar’s game #289 guide.
According to the gameplay instructions as reported by Parade, finding three non-theme words earns an in-game hint. A hint shows the letters of a theme word; if a hint is already active, another reveals their order.
