Spangram
FALSE FRONT
The six theme words name ways to hide, cover, or disguise something. FALSE FRONT brings them together as a phrase for a misleading outward appearance.
How Strands hints and the spangram work
Parade’s summary of the New York Times’ directions says theme words fill the board, remain highlighted in blue, and do not overlap. The spangram describes the theme, touches two opposite sides of the board, and highlights in yellow. Finding three non-theme words earns an in-game hint that reveals letters from a theme word.
