Today’s NYT Strands theme is “A math teacher’s favorite dessert.” If you’re stuck, start with the theme hint below, then use the non-theme words to earn an in-game hint or reveal the complete answer list.

Hints for Strands #741

Theme hint

The puzzle’s theme is “A math teacher’s favorite dessert.”

Non-theme words

These words can help you earn a hint: DIVE, FRIED, LAST, CHEAT, CAVE and FLING. Finding three non-theme words reveals the letters of a theme word in the game.

Spangram

The spangram is HAPPYPIDAY, written as “Happy Pi Day.” It has 10 letters, starts with H, ends with Y, and touches the grid’s first and last columns.

Today’s NYT Strands answers

Here are all seven theme words and the spangram:

  • VENT
  • CRUST
  • FILLING
  • LATTICE
  • GLAZE
  • FRUIT
  • EDGES
  • HAPPYPIDAY (spangram)

How Strands works

Strands uses a 6-by-8 grid of 48 letters. Connect adjacent letters in any direction to spell the hidden theme words. The spangram describes the theme and reaches two opposite sides of the grid. Finding three words that are not part of the theme earns a hint revealing letters in a theme word.
