Yes—Ciri sounds different in The Witcher IV because CD PROJEKT RED confirmed that Ciara Berkeley voices her in both the December 2024 reveal trailer and the full game. Jo Wyatt voiced Ciri in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and its downloadable content.
Who voices Ciri in The Witcher IV?
Ciara Berkeley is the new English voice of Ciri. CD PROJEKT RED confirmed the casting for the cinematic reveal trailer and the full game, as reported by Engadget on December 15, 2024 and GameSpot on December 17, 2024.
Before this casting change, Jo Wyatt voiced Ciri in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and its DLC. The difference listeners noticed is a change of actor, not evidence of a new in-game version of Ciri.
Why did Ciri’s voice change?
CD PROJEKT RED has not publicly explained why it cast Berkeley rather than retaining Wyatt. A spokesperson told TheGamer, in a statement reproduced by Engadget: “Ciara is a talented actress who impressed us with her enthusiasm and vocal acting skills, and in this trailer we believe she truly brought Ciri to life in a way that is both faithful to the character and exciting for fans of the series.”

The statement praises Berkeley’s enthusiasm and vocal acting; it does not give a reason for the casting change. There is no basis in these reports to attribute it to a contract, availability, age, a strike, or a particular creative decision.
What the reveal trailer shows—and what it doesn’t
CD PROJEKT RED announced The Witcher IV at The Game Awards in Los Angeles on December 13, 2024, introducing it as the first game in a new Witcher saga with Ciri as its protagonist. The nearly six-minute cinematic follows her taking a witcher contract in a remote village. The studio says it was pre-rendered in a custom Unreal Engine 5 build and made in collaboration with Platige Image; it is not gameplay footage. See the official announcement.

The game is described by CD PROJEKT RED as a single-player, open-world RPG and a successor to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Its official Witcher IV page frames the story around Ciri’s journey to become a professional monster slayer. Those details establish her central role, but the cinematic alone does not show how her voice will sound during gameplay.

In an interview published by Xbox Wire on December 18, 2024, narrative director Philipp Weber said the game takes place “a few years” after The Witcher 3. He also said the team intended to account for the previous game’s multiple endings, without detailing how. That provides some setting context, but it does not explain the recast; see the Xbox Wire interview.
