NYT Connections answers for September 4, 2025

The puzzle’s 16 words divide into these four groups:

Yellow — WHAT YOU MIGHT SEE ON A CHRISTMAS TREE

ANGEL, CANDY CANE, STRING LIGHTS, TINSEL

Green — CLEAN UP, AS A PHOTOGRAPH

AIRBRUSH, FIX, PHOTOSHOP, TOUCH UP

Blue — FRENCH FOOD WORDS

CORNICHON, PAIN, PAMPLEMOUSSE, VINAIGRETTE

Purple — THINGS WITH CELLS

HONEYCOMB, ORGANISM, SOLAR PANEL, SPREADSHEET

Why the trickiest groups fit

The cell connection spans several meanings: an organism has biological cells, a honeycomb is made of cells, a solar panel contains photovoltaic cells, and a spreadsheet is divided into cells. The French-food group is simply the four listed food words; no translation or extra category rule is needed to identify the set.
