How Connections works
NYT Connections gives you 16 words to sort into four groups of four that share a theme. The groups are color-coded by difficulty: Yellow is easiest and Purple is trickiest. Each puzzle has exactly one solution, though some words can appear to fit more than one category. See the NYT Connections rules.

The daily game releases at midnight in your timezone. NYT lists the NYT Games app, nytimes.com/games/connections, nytimes.com/theathletic, and the NYT News app as places to play. The Connections archive reaches back to June 12, 2023 for All Access and Games subscribers. Archive play affects some statistics, but not streaks, and a completed archived puzzle cannot be replayed.
