Thunderful Gothenburg announced on 12 February 2025 that it would become Stormteller Games. Its first game under the new name, Lost in Random: The Eternal Die, was initially planned for Summer 2025 and later launched on 17 June 2025.
Why did Thunderful Gothenburg change its name?
The studio said Stormteller Games was chosen through a collaborative process. The name draws on Gothenburg’s seaside industrial heritage and turbulent weather, while reflecting the team’s ambition to make gameplay-driven experiences and retain a meaningful connection to Thunderful. The studio described the rebrand as a way to express both its origins and its aspirations.
Thunderful’s announcement presented the change as a studio rebrand, not as the start of an unrelated developer.
What is Stormteller Games?
Stormteller Games is the new name announced for Thunderful Gothenburg. In its 12 February 2025 announcement, the studio said it had emerged from the 2017 merger of Image & Form and Zoink! Games, and reported a team of 25 veteran developers. Those are dated announcement details, not confirmation of the studio’s current headcount.

What the rebrand does—and does not—tell us
Thunderful Group’s reporting independently noted that Thunderful Gothenburg had rebranded to Stormteller Games after the end of the fourth quarter of 2024. That supports the timing of the studio announcement, but the reasons for the name and the team details come from the studio’s own post.
Thunderful Group’s current newsroom describes the wider company as focused on publishing and developing digital games for PC and console, with Publishing and Co-Development & Services as its two main operating segments. It also says the group was delisted from Nasdaq First North on 24 February 2026. These are parent-group details; they do not establish Stormteller Games’ current corporate status or what the group changes mean for the studio.
