Oblivion Skeleton Commander is the floor 10 boss of Taedal’s Tower, in the “Commander’s Shadow Strike” encounter. For a Staff/Wand character, focus on the fight’s timing rather than a special rotation: jump as the arena-wide shockwave hits, keep moving around pulls and charges, and run clear when the boss channels its charged AoE.

How to access the floor 10 fight

The encounter is Taedal’s Tower floor 10, also described as the 10th Secret Dungeon. Older guides disagree about the level needed to enter: Throneandliberty.online lists level 35+ and completing floor 9, while Game8 lists level 50. Those dated requirements may not reflect the current game, so check the tower’s in-game unlock rather than relying on either level figure. Throneandliberty.online; Game8

How to handle the boss’s attacks

Jump the landing shockwave

When the Commander leaps, prepare to jump as it lands. The landing sends damage across the arena; being airborne at impact is the key response. Do not assume the first leap is the only one: guides warn that it can happen twice in succession, so watch the boss after the first landing and be ready to jump again. Move sideways when dark energy pulls

A forward dark-energy attack draws characters in its path toward the boss. As its animation begins, move laterally instead of standing directly in front. One guide describes a sequence below half health in which a jump is followed by a pull and an explosive attack; if the pull catches you, move away quickly rather than staying beside the boss. Defend against the stun projectile; avoid the rush

Game8 describes a projectile that can stun and recommends a well-timed Defensive Skill against it. The Commander can also rush forward; parry the charge if your timing is reliable, or move out of its path. Keep enough space to react instead of committing to a stationary attack. Game8

Run out of the charged AoE

When the boss begins channeling its charged area attack, create as much distance as you can. Game8 says this attack is not avoided or parried like the projectile and rush; moving far away during the channel reduces damage and avoids its stun. Treat the cast as a cue to disengage, then return when the danger has passed. Game8

What Staff/Wand changes—and what it does not

Hardcore Gamer published a video on October 2, 2024 titled “Throne and Liberty – Oblivion Skeleton Commander Boss (Staff/Wand)”. Its title confirms a Staff/Wand run, but the indexed description does not establish a recommended skill rotation, gear setup, stat priority, or that the pairing is better than another weapon combination. Use the encounter mechanics above as your guide rather than treating the video title as proof of an optimal build.

For your own setup, the useful questions are practical: can you keep moving while dealing damage, time your Defensive Skill for the stun projectile, and get far enough away during the charged AoE? The available guides support both melee and ranged approaches and report no specific equipment weakness, so there is no source-backed reason to claim Staff/Wand is uniquely effective. Simple preparation for the attempt

  • Stay mobile between casts so you can respond to the pull, charge, and shockwave.
  • Watch the boss after its leap and be prepared for a second jump.
  • Keep your Defensive Skill available for the stun projectile if you need it.
  • Food and mana potions are general preparation suggestions in Twinfinite’s guide, not mandatory items or a Staff/Wand build requirement. Twinfinite

Rewards and current-game caveat

Game8 lists reward categories including Precious Weapon, Armor, and Accessory Growthstones, Rare Recovery Crystals, Sollant, EXP, and the Velvet Raven morph. Older guides report differing quantities and experience values, and the cited coverage is dated rather than current official patch information. Check the reward display in your game for current amounts instead of treating an older guide’s numbers as guaranteed. Game8
