How the five rounds work
Rounds one through four
Each of the first four puzzles has a secret five-letter word and gives you six guesses to find it. After you solve a round, its answer becomes your first guess in the next puzzle.

The final round
The fifth puzzle uses the four answers from the earlier rounds as its first four guesses. You then have two additional tries to find the final secret word.

What the color clues mean
- Green: the letter is in the answer and in the correct position.
- Yellow: the letter is in the answer but belongs in a different position.
- Gray: the letter is not in the answer.
Use the colors to refine your next guess: keep green letters where they are, try yellow letters elsewhere, and avoid gray letters. The rules above are the published rules; the available pages do not document alternate modes or editions.
