Age of Empires Mobile launched worldwide on October 17, 2024, for Apple App Store and Google Play. Co-developed by TiMi Studio Group and World’s Edge, it brings familiar franchise elements to a strategy game designed specifically for mobile. A PC Edition followed in June 2026, adding mouse and keyboard controls while supporting crossplay with mobile.
What is Age of Empires Mobile?
Age of Empires Mobile is a mobile war strategy game built around empire development, leaders, troops, and multiplayer alliances. World’s Edge described it as an experience made from the ground up for mobile and social play—not a direct port of a PC game. Its design combines recognizable elements of the franchise with mobile-specific gameplay.
At launch, the publisher highlighted single-player modes, real-time troop control, interactive terrain, changing weather, and large alliance battles. Siege is the alliance-versus-alliance mode, which World’s Edge described as featuring hundreds of players at war. That is the publisher’s description of the mode, not an independently verified player-count figure.
Who made it, and when did it launch?
TiMi Studio Group and World’s Edge co-developed the game. World’s Edge announced worldwide availability on Apple App Store and Google Play on October 17, 2024. TiMi producer Robin Xin said the goal was to offer newcomers a way into the franchise while giving existing fans fresh experiences. World’s Edge senior director of production Earnest Yuen described alliance gameplay and siege battles as a new entry point for mobile players.

Which civilizations are in the game?
The launch announcement listed eight civilizations:
- British
- Byzantines
- Chinese
- Egyptians
- French
- Japanese

This is the launch lineup reported by the publisher; it does not establish which civilizations are available in the current game or whether the roster has since changed.

What is the PC Edition, and how does it differ?
World’s Edge announced Age of Empires Mobile: PC Edition for Steam and Microsoft Store on June 23, 2026. The Microsoft Store listing gives June 24, 2026 as its release date; announcement and storefront dates can differ. World’s Edge says the PC version adds mouse control, full keyboard navigation, a refined interface, and enhanced 4K visuals.

Its opened listing was localized to Korea, so its age rating and other local details should not be treated as global.

Is the game free, and are there Game Pass rewards?
The Microsoft Store listing describes the PC Edition as free with in-app purchases. This is a storefront description, not a promise that every item or feature is free; current purchase options and regional availability should be checked on the relevant store listing.
World’s Edge’s June 2026 announcement described a reward for players with an active PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass subscription: a Monthly Pass Token, Custom Resource Chest, ten 60-minute speed-ups, 1,000 Empire Coins, and an exclusive player portrait frame. Subscription eligibility and offer terms can change, so check the current official terms before relying on the reward.

What is known about its player count?
In June 2026, World’s Edge said the game had seen “millions of players” since October 2024. The publisher did not provide an exact count, collection method, or comparison basis, so this should be read as a qualitative statement rather than a precise player statistic.
