To catch the Megalodon in Fisch, join an active Megalodon Hunt, fish in the water behind Ancient Isle, and use a rod with at least 50,000 kg of weight capacity. Shark Head is the Fisch Wiki’s listed preferred bait, and a high-resilience or high-control rod can help with the difficult fight.
1. Wait for an active Megalodon Hunt
The Megalodon is caught during the Megalodon Hunt event, so first check that a hunt is active. The available event information does not establish a reliable way to trigger one on demand; do not count on a particular item or method to start it.
2. Fish behind Ancient Isle
Head to the water behind Ancient Isle. The event guide places the Megalodon there, and the Fisch Wiki’s reproduced spawn notification says it was spotted “past Ancient Isle.” Use the active hunt notification and event area as your guide to where to cast.
3. Use Shark Head bait if you have it
The official Fisch Wiki lists Shark Head as the Megalodon’s preferred bait. Treat it as a preference, not a requirement: the source does not say that other bait cannot catch the fish or provide a catch-rate increase for Shark Head.

4. Bring a rod that can handle its weight
Check the rod’s maximum weight capacity before you fish. The Fisch Wiki’s event overview, updated September 25, 2026, says every Megalodon form weighs at least 50,000 kg, so a rod below that capacity is not suitable. The official wiki lists an average Megalodon weight of 58,500 kg; check the live Bestiary if that precision matters, since that figure comes from an older search result.
Once the rod meets the weight requirement, consider its handling traits:

- Control: High control is another suggested option for managing the reel-in.
- Stab ability: The guide also mentions a rod with Stab as an option.
These are suggested traits, not a verified best-in-slot build. The sources do not establish a single universally best rod.
5. Fish promptly once the hunt begins
The Fisch Wiki event overview says a hunt may despawn after roughly 15 minutes if nobody catches the Megalodon. The timer is approximate and may change with updates, so travel to the event area and cast promptly rather than waiting out the hunt.

What to know about Megalodon variants
The event overview names the Megalodon, Ancient Megalodon, and Phantom Megalodon. Its search excerpt says the Phantom form can appear only when an eclipse and a Megalodon Hunt occur on the same day, but variant timing claims conflict across sources. Check current in-game event information for the Phantom’s requirements; a definitive schedule is not established here.
The Fisch Wiki’s reproduced Bestiary entry describes the Megalodon as an apex predator of Ancient Isle that “will put up an incredible fight when hooked.” That is Bestiary text reproduced by a community-maintained wiki, not a separately verified developer statement.
