What is known about the remake’s development?
The remake was announced in 2021 and began with Aspyr. GameSpot reported in April 2024 that Saber had joined as co-developer and that the game was being remade from scratch. Is Fate of the Old Republic the remake?
No. Lucasfilm officially announced Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic on December 12, 2025. It is a separate single-player action RPG from Arcanaut Studios, made in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games and led by Casey Hudson, director of the original KOTOR. The original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was released in 2003. It is distinct from the remake.
